That's a tough Q Rye

Someone would have to stick there neck out to recommend you one. If they do and you hate it well that's a lose lose

I think your best bet is to make yourself a list of available ones and start narrowing it down by price, sound clips, member reviews etc. Then go from there

Good luck

From personal experience the "loud & aggressive" factor comes from pairing a catless downpipe to the exhaust.
As far as exhaust, many of us, including myself, have the best experience with the BMW Performance exhaust. It provides a rich tone and definitely throaty with the catless downpipe.

Have you tried the golf tee mod? It really makes the stock exhaust shine.

Thanks guys!!! I am trying to narrow down my options.. As of now i heard my friend's Vanguard exhaust it had minimal drone, louder than stock. Based from the reviews Bmw performance exhaust was a bit pricey but classy and deeper sound than stock. I heard Meistershaft exhaust but it was from an M3 V8 uphill and it sounded sick like a Lion !!! So it for now my options are vanguard and bmw performance exhaust...
Hope to receive more tips on what brand to check out before buying.. Thanks for responding guys ....

I was in the same position as you. I ended up going with the vanguard just because i disnt like how the PE looked. The vanguard on the n55 sounds very nice and is decently priced. Sounds good the way it is and if its not loud enough for you just slap a DP on it.

If you don't have a catless DP and your not gonna put one, you can go with pretty much any exhaust that sounds the best for you. But if you are gonna run a DP, then BMW performance exhaust is the way to go. IMO

+1

You NEED a downpipe FIRST. Otherwise, they won't sound as aggressive.
On a side note, Vanguard will have drone. It is probably the loudest exhaust I've heard - especially with the downpipe. Never heard it without it.

Go with catless dp + BMW PE

The best I have owned yet.

Here is a couple of videos I have of my friend driving my car while I record it.

And, this is one of my favorites...

I was between Vanguard and PE as well. Went with Vanguard because it is more agressive and has a nice tone that isnt too agressive, as well as the adjustable huge tips. I'd go with the vanguard if i were you

My favorite: catless DP with a 335is rear section.

I had a m3 rear bumper installed, and had to change my exhaust. So my local speed shop, cbrd. Custom made it for me. All I did was bought the tips that I liked on here from that guy with all the tips for our car. And the shop got me 2 magnaflow exhaust and welded my tips on and did a really good job. Everything looks like factory and the sound is freaking awesome !!! I will have to show you pics and record sound. But it is not loud at all and when u get on it. Sounds just almost factory, but nicer. And no, not like a rice burner lol. All that with labor and parts and custom hanger to go into factory points, costed only $800. Cheaper then buying a kit and I think it sounds better then most sold online

You should try downpipes first and see if that is enough. The N55 sounds really good with downpipes.

If not, the majority of exhausts available will sound good. The drone typically becomes more apparent when the cat back exhaust is mated with downpipes. So you need to decide first how loud and if you will ever have downpipes in conjunction.

I am in the same situation right now, definitely set on the BMW Perf exhaust, the only problem is the price

I agree with Jeff.. try the downpipe first. Probably THE best first set. HP gain, cost is cheap (somewhat), sound is most noticeable.
THEN, get BMW PE

Agreed on the downpipe, stock DP+exhaust is still pretty quiet. I have the AA exhaust and I love the sound, it's very deep and definitely sounds like a boosted motor at WOT
