Black matte spray paint
Hi,
i plan to spray paint a car black matte (not the e90) and all i want is temporary look of the car to see how that color looks before i paint it for real. some say usually 10-12 cans is enough to cover medium size car. Does anyone have any suggestions what type/brand paint and where to buy from? i appreciate your help. |

go to dipmycar.com and read up there, you shouldn't be using the can sprays on your car if you want it to look at least decent, you need to invest in a spray gun

Plastidip is the way to go. I wouldn't do it out of a spray can under any circumstances. Spend the 40-50 bucks to get a spray gun on ebay and buy two cans of the stuff. You can do the whole car relatively cheap, and it comes off when you want to remove it.

Plastidip it... Spray paint will be terrible.

I would stay away from spray paint in cans as the chances of it looking like garbage as quite high... |

Agreed. OP have you ever seen those old beater cars that have been spray painted matte black? It's terrible, and you can tell 100% it is spray painted.

Please , don't use rattle cans to paint the car . It will look horrible because you can't put it on wet fast enough. You'll end up with a striped look. You'll never get a good idea of what car would really look like done professionally .i hate to say it but get some plasti-dip and a gun from home depot for 50 bucks if you absolutely have to. A tleast it will peel off when you're done.

You might want to check with your painter if you plan to do anything with a rattle can. It can leave texture and can react with other paint that you apply later.
He will probably advise you against it and charge you MORE when you do go to get it painted because you increased the prep work.

Wow, plastidip seems to be the choice now that I have seen it so spray paint is out, I'm convinced.
Does anyone have a good understanding how long will the plastidip stay on the car and what's the best way to remove it? Thank you very much. |

Another e90 owner did his in white - had it on there from July to October and then peeled it off... (yes, you just peel it off). Appears to last and look good for quite a bit of time. |

Maybe you should consider wrapping it in vinyl. It would look ten times better than covering it with plastidip and will last longer and be easier to wash as well.
