Toyo R888 on the road?

Hi,

Im going to change my tires from RFT to non-RFT.

I need more traction, so one of the best option would be the Toyo R888.

I know it would be noisy, it would be a dry-only tyre and they wouldn't last long, but other than that, how would they behave on the road?

Any experiences to share?

Thanks.

They are nice tires. a bit expensive considering their wear rate, but if you can afford it, go for it.

Check out the NT01 from Nitto - same compound (toyo owns nitto or the other way around) and the same if not better wear rate.

I drive w/the NT01 to/on/from the track on my e46 m3 track car. Don't notice much noise or annoyance with them - mostly because highways are straight and im not really RIPPING hard on the highway.

I would go with the Bridgestone RE-11 (replacement for the re01r). Great grip, good in the rain, longer wear rate than an r-comp tire.

be prepared for a lot of noice of the Toyo's! In normal condition (not heated up) you will not have really more grip then with a good summer tire. You for sure can drive them in the dry, but IMO it only makes sense if you also track so now and then. For pure road use I would recommend you some good summer tires.
