Fuel additives - destroyed injectors?
I had my injectors replaced recently.
I have been using some fuel additives to keep things clean for the engine. Would this be pure coincidence? Would the fuel additives possibly dislodged some residue and mess up on injector? Or just simple part failure? |

My semi-educated guess would be that it was coincidental....how many kilometres:miles on the vehicle? |

I had multiple injectors replacement without the use of additive. It is a common problem. |

I brought back a couple of "dead" injectors by using Hot Shot Secret Stiction Eliminator in my diesel pick-up. According to a white paper on their site, a dead injector is more a oil problem than a fuel problem. The tiny amount of oil gets cooked inside of the injector and then fails. I use the stiction eliminator with the diesel extreme fuel additive to try to keep the injectors from failing again. 30k since I used it and they are still alive.
I emailed them about using their products in the 335D and am waiting for their response. I was originally interested in finding an additive that can boost my local diesel fuel from a 40 cetane to a 51 cetane as recommended by BMW. Maybe the higher cetane rating will burn cleaner and not have the CBU problems. |

Since it sounds like you are always elbow deep in your engine, have you noticed any CBU since you started using the cetane boost?
Hot Shot replied and recommended a product called EDT. Will have to compare that against amsoil, royal purple and others. |
