Thumbs up Independent Labour Rates

I went into my (very) local indy yesterday for a chat.

PJ Automotive, Stoke on Trent

Nice guys, small outfit, seemed completely clued up. Even tried to talk me out of replacing my rear subframe bushes as it was a waste of money!

(I'm sure it was equally because it's a pig of a job for them, but kudos for honesty )

Anyway... they're happy to use and fit parts I supply myself, and their labour charge?

£45+VAT an hour bargain!

Booked in for my MOT with them next week, let's see if I can make it through without any unnecessary brake pad sales

I had a similar experience with my local indie. a few mins walk down the road.
Trying to talk me out of changing my nearly fairly worn tires. It is a refreshing change from having to bend over everytime you walk into BMW!
Only drawback is them not having the latest BMW software etc, but hey ho.

Legally they should be given access to this if it is essential to the maintenance or safety of the product.

Interesting how it all pans out.
We run up against issues like this as we maintain our competitors products.
The 'copyright' of software is often touted as an excuse not to supply.
Where parts are concerned there is an obligation to supply.
One would assume that essential software should be regarded in similar fashion?

Good stuff,

Now we're in Eccleshall, I've looked at these guys as local indies.

I'll go back to Darren Woods in Manchester for big jobs, but for a quick oil service etc i'll give these chaps a go.

Cheers!
