interesting that it lights up both sides...typically it's the driver's side that lights up...wonder what would happen if you too out the bulb on the pass side.

I would also like to do this mod if we can find the part. Let me just make sure of something as well... If this mod is done, does that mean that adaptive braking is not available all together, or just not when the rear fogs are in use???

did you see all the pics at the start of the thread? The pic with the tail lights on is the fog lights.

The adaptive brake light on the side without the bulb wouldn't work. It would make your car look lopsided. You would probably also get a light on the dash to illuminate. Remember, for every action there's an equal and opposite reactionl. You may like not having the light on in the back but you'll not like having the light on in the dash.

bmw's have been using both sides for the rear fogs for a very long time. there's some other cars out there that use both sides as well. i agree, that just using the drivers side is better so they don't look like brake lights.

anyway, this is such a sweet post! i had rear fogs on my last bmw, and i've always wanted them on the e90. who would've thought that all you needed to do was replace the fog light switch!! thanks brianlay!!

not sure, but it's surely possible.

on my e34, it was not prewired and the back of the tails had the shape of where the fog bulb should be, but it was solid. so it took some modifying of the tails, some wiring, and the euro spec switch.

Has anyone else had any luck getting the switch? I'm thinking of stopping by my local parts counter after work. Just wondering...

I think we should get ScreaminE90 to look into doing a GB for this...seems to be gathering a lot of interest/momentum. He's the right person to do this...

CircleBWM just gave me a quote for 63.32 USD for the switch and will be ordered from Germany. If Germany has it, 2-3 weeks ... otherwise longer if the German supplier is backed up.

Talk with Chris in their parts dept. to order or get more details.

My dealer's website lists it for $53.11 (no CCA discount on that price) so I placed an online order as I won't make it there before they close today. Here's the site, just enter the part # to search for it:

A different slant: if the fog lights are used properly, that is, when visibility is next to nothing, I would think the more red light you have behind you in the fog the better you'd be. May help prevent having the red and blue and amber lights of emergency and recovery vehicles congregating around a mass of twisted metal.

spydrz: great price. Will wait to see if my local dealers have any in stock or respond? If they don't I will go with your contact. Did they say how long for that part?

bma isn't a dealer, they just sell parts for cars.
