Do scoops do anything at all for an N55

Other than looking super cool if I bought them in red in between my grilles?

They increase 5 hp.

Not really, I'd say just looks and "helps" with airflow (not increase it).

Pics of said scoops? I don't think I have seen them yet and I am just getting ready for some visual mods. Everything else is ordered. Nothing crazy, just a new diffuser, spoiler and splitters.

Thank you. Was just trying to settle a largely pointless argument over a certain set of RPi ram air intake scoops from a certain vendor that "promises a 10-15 who gain over 70mph."

I now no longer feel bad for laughing on the phone at them.

Im running bms dci so i have no shielding in between the air filters and the hot air coming from the opposite side. Therefore, in my case i think the scoops are helping me displace hot air out of the engine bay. Even though, I have no data to prove this theory i believe basic thermodynamics will support me a little bit.

Check out m o d b a r g a i n s

Look for the ram air intake scoops (difficult install) at a price point of 150$

No idea how they are different from plain ol' air scoops....but if it were indeed at much whp gain (dyno proven) I think I would have bit.

doubt any big gains, but might see 2-3hp and 60 plus speeds. it is sending cooler air better then not having them. my thoughts i guess!

I installed on stock car n it did not have any butt gains... Instead the scoop drop due to the air pressure. If wana fix up make sure the screws are long enough...

I don't want to scoop any more shitty dirty Tri State air into my intake than I have to.

Those m o d b a r g a i n s ones I mentioned might do a good deal more- especially at that price point....? I want to believe they do.

I've got RPI scoops. Can't say I feel much on the top end or over 60-70 mph, but they do look nice in the grill.

although 5-10 hp would be difficult to feel with the butt dyno, imo.

I can't speak for N55 as I have the N54, but I recently installed Cyba scoops AND did a muffler delete (which I doubt did anything power-wise) but then not too long after that I took a 3 hour highway trip and I noticed 2-3mpg better than before. I don't know if it was the scoops, the muffler delete, or a combination of both. Hell it was probably the 38lb weight saving from removing the factory muffler. IDK, either way I saw 2-3mpg gain on cruise control at highway speeds (80mph)

I would go with the loss of muffler weight

In any case, without an actual baseline and then with the air scoops, I think I'll pass.

Well, seeing as your interior is red, your e93 WOULD look really good with red scoops.

Any difference scoops make will not be felt by a your butt-dyno, anyone who says otherwise is enjoying the placebo effect. They do look cool though, I'd go with Cyba scoops over RPi or any other brand due to their pricing.

I had them and although I didn't feel a significant difference, I didn't feel a significant difference with a stock intake or aftermarket either so keeping that in mind I still think they help direct air into the intake.

this debate could go on forever haha but I really doubt they do anything for the n55.. I wish someone would just do the proper testing to really see if there is a performance gain even if its little.. but whoever does the testing has to make sure the conditions are proper.. (fan to emulate highway air flow) regardless I bet it does increase throttle response by a hair.
