I'm driving a 6MT and just downloaded the latest software. Also, I didn't notice any extended acceleration after I let off the gas. I only drove the car for about 30 minutes after instillation so maybe I'll see some differences after a few days. I will say I was really impressed.

As I took off in 1st gear, I didn't really jump hard on it and didn't notice a huge difference. When I shifted into 2nd and floored it, I felt like I got shoved into the back seat. Going into 3rd, my DSC kicked in and I realized I was passing cars like they were in reverse so I backed off.

I'll have a chance to push the car this weekend; if I notice any differences I'll report them.
This post right here might make me buy a AP this week.....

I realized yesterday with the test tune that Lance sent me how radically different the car can feel with different tunes applied. I was thinking once Cobb has had the time to develop more maps for the N54 it could be like having 3 or 4 different cars in your garage.....
Heading to the track? Going to the drag strip? Long highway road trip?
In 2 minutes you can flash your car to be what ever you need for that day. You've got to love technology.

I was thinking the same exact thing. I've got a "spirited driving" event with the local BMW CCA this weekend, can't wait! I'm heading to Watkins Glenn in a few weeks and I'm even more excited for that!!

Thanks Lance!
sounds like good news

one thing that i noted when driving the car during its release (2006) it that is just that -- deceptive.. by time you realize youre going fast, you past fast into "damn that was stupid" -- i can just imagine with a good tune its even better --

i put quite a few miles on last night and today with the new map from lance as well. The car is way more drivable in traffic and with passengers. I took my boss to lunch without watching his head jerk forward every time i shift. He is not a car guy and was pretty impressed. It is not as exciting on the butt dyno but it is linear and builds boost just like it did before requiring a lot more throttle movement to do so. This will definitely be my weekday commute and track map. I will probably go back to the touchier feel map on the weekends because it is definitely more fun to drive it like that.

That was also the first time i changed maps. it was incredibly fast and I like what e92OCD said that this will be great for feeling like you have more than one car! Another major reason I bought the COBB, free maps!

Thanks Lance.

it sure is fun, it requires even less time on the throttle to get yourself in some trouble with the law though!

I was having a look at the data log to put some numbers to my butt dyno. This is definitley a more conservative tune, but I think it's a very good map to use for a daily drive. Boost builds to 11.5 psi quickly and seems to peak around 12.5 psi at 4500-5000 rpm. What ever turbo lag that was there stock (very minimal) is all but absent as well. It's not going to throw your head back in the seat, but you can really feel the extra grunt over stock.

I've been testing several new stage 1 maps for Lance as well -- please be patient, the guys at Cobb are working very diligently to get the maps into your hands.

Good things come to those who wait! Don't let new map releases influence your buying decision, as the currently released 2.00 and 2.01 maps are still extremely awesome! You will not be disappointed; Cobb truly cares about their customers, and is working hard to perfect things.

I've found that they are extremely slow answering simple questions via phone and email. I'm testing the AP for a local shop and so far am completely dissatisfied with Cobb's customer support.

i got an email with a new map from lance at midnight this week. These guys are busting their butts to keep getting us better and better tunes/maps

i would buy this again in a heartbeat, customer service is good considering the depth of technology behind their work

i have a version of the 2.02 map that is out of this world smooth, i would repeat bmxcamel's post earlier, good things come to those that wait

Ecu was not supported (08 335xi manual) did a rom dump, connected to my pc, firmware updated automatically and erased the rom download.

I've left them a voicemail (after 4 or 5 calls with not answer) and emailed them to see if there is anything I'm doing wrong or anything that I can do to keep this from happening again.

30+ hours with no response to a very simple question.

I would expect when a product is released that it would not have this many issues supporting ECU's that it is supposed to be compatible with and if they know this is an issue that they'd be quicker to respond.

Did you email them the ROM? Or are you still having trouble getting the ROM off of your AccessPort? So now that your firmware is updated (which is the first thing you should have done) just repeat the steps again to do a ROM dump.
