New Dashcam and power manager arrived yesterday, I haven't had a chance to attempt the install, still researching where to power from, others say the fuse box and ive read that fuse 83 is always on and fuse 8 is ignition only as per this thread

So ill give those a go over the weekend.

Can you let me know how you go with this and what you think of the Blackvue I was think of buying one of these

In terms of built quality, looks and functionality they are.

They are a bit behind from a video quality perspective, 1080p30fps front and 720p30fps rear

Both should be 1080p60 at least by now.

Others are 2K

But the rest of the package is what got me over the line.

-Great design
-Software
-Viewing locally or remotely from a mobile device
-Sends alerts to you

Is your mate from Carbon Car Systems?

I let him know that you tried contacting via the website mate. He's looking into it as he's all over his website, and hasn't seen anything from you.

He's also checking with his web developer to make sure it's all working as it should.

So I tried installed the Vico power box, fuse 8 and fuse 83.

It would tn power on, I could be bothered with it so I unplugged 83 and left 8 in, it flattered my battery over night haha, had to charge it up last night.

I'll go and invest in a multimeter to do it properly and diagnose

Where did you get your respray done? In Wollongong somewhere? I ran over a massive stick the other week and it chipped/damaged a small area on the bottom of my front bumper and it looks shocking so I need to get it patched up

Fuse box, I'll do a post when it's working, from what I've read don't piggy back on an existing fuse, get a fuse tap adaptor, I got two from JayCar plus two 2A fuses.

I didn't get a multimeter yet to diagnose, but if you work out what I did wrong let me know lol.

Did you get a power management device?

I'm using the power magic pro and haven't had any issues with mine at all.

Is the wiring the same as the Vico?

I guess so
Three power input cables

-Ground
-Ignition only (fuse 8 cigarette lighter)
-Constant power (fuse 83, unused in our cars)

One power output in the form of a female cigarette lighter port

Is that what yours is like

They sit between your cars power and your dash cam.

They are meant to be a fail safe so your dashcam doesn't drain the cars battery.

I spoke to the sales rep at DCA and they recommended the vicovation one, said it was better, even through blackvu has their own one.

I can't back that up with any data though so here they both are.

This should help you out then.

I forget what else I'm powering from there, but the ground is achieved by securing it to the large torx bolt in there.

Yeah so fuse 8 is the top green mini fuse
Your yellow cable is different to what I was using I'll give it a go.

Your red cable is something else right?

If the dashcam is hooked up to power up only when the ignition is on, why do we need this??? or do you only need it if you are leaving the cam on 24/7 while parked etc?? Im afused

Because the blackvue isnt only powered up when the ignition is on, it runs the motion detection mode 24/7 when the car is parked, so you need constant power for one of the fuses and ignition only power on the other, red wire and yellow wire. Have you got yours yet? its all in the install instructions .
The device stops the car from killing the battery when the voltage drops too low if for example you go over seas for 3 months. You configure a voltage on the power device.
