Acceleration Rattle

When accelerating hard in either D, S or M mode my car makes a metalic rattling sound which is driving me crazy.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi mate and welcome.

Could possibly be the wastegate actuator issue?

Have a look on YouTube for that and see if it sounds like your noise.

Alternatively, could it be coming from the exhaust?

wastegate rattle is common on 335i's

usually at low revs and from cold ?

There are quite a few threads on here, defo worth a search.

Dealers got a set method on dealing with it, think they do an ECU update, then replace actuators. Well they did for me and it seems to have cured it.

I should be picking mine up in a few hours (fingers crossed) after having stage 2 of the above method completed.

Don't think wastegate rattle would happen on hard acceleration though - it's pretty much only on spool-down. You'd notice it as the engine returns to tickover speed if you blip the throttle when you're stationary in neutral.
