Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I was going to delete that post but realised someone 'quoted' my post in their reply so I thought to leave it and maybe it'll go unnoticed!
Yeah it's an M3 wheel with DCT paddles... I'm so excited it's gonna feel immense! |

No worries mate, I was hoping to keep it on the D-LOW bu you guys went detective mode on me LOL.. Anywho, I'll upload pics when it's on and the car's ready - all in good time.
I've obv never used these M3 paddles but the fact that they can only be pulled and not pushed plus with its -ve / +ve paddle, it feels so so much better. Before getting it I really didn't think it would make much difference but I'm already beginning to think how different they are to OEM ones... if funds permit, do it buddy! |

There's a thread in the classifieds for OEM M3 paddles for little over a ton. Seems like a bargain to me!
Might start my own mod thread - thought this car was soooooo much better than my old E39 520i that I wouldn't "need" to spend anymore money. Turns out life's not about need but want..... |

Hey Woody,
I recently bought and fitted the OEM M3 paddles that you may have seen in the classifieds. They are brilliant. Mainly because shifting will feel more natural and therefore "easier". Quality wise i can not fault them, solidly built. An essential mod in my book. Was my first ever mod on this car |

Using the DIY on the thread, you can "click" each side of the airbag out. Then there should be 2 clips on the back of the airbag unit. I used a trim tool to push up, see the pic. It's not the same unit but the principle is the same: http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merc...wheel/clip.jpg Once you do that the clips should clip out with a little force and you can place the unit somewhere. The other thing which was tricky was unscrewing the T20 screws behind the wheel to take the steering wheel cover off. It's certainly not hard, i just didn't have a short enough T20 as there's not much room. But you'll be fine, it's all easy enough. The actual paddles are a direct replacement so they should just screw and clip in |

With any luck, should get the car back this weekend. It's been 3 weeks this Friday without it and I've got to the point where I'm actually getting used to this 1998 C class. The thing takes days to shift but always close to my chest since its been passed on in the family lol!

Off to pick her up shortly from its Audio makeover by Dips @ The Custom Cars.
.. Gt some pics of the boot with 90% completion; the rest 10% will need to be done closer to March which is when my car next goes in for its final and most visibly unique makeover! I'm planning simething a lil special inside the boot so need to wait more patiently for the part to turn up. Anywho, will report back when I return with my first impressions of the install/sound. From the almost finished pics I do have which I've not yet uploaded, I have already fallen in love with it so really hoping the sounds can live up to my expectations. All I know is, Dips will throw in his own ideas and help to achieve the looks and sound you've been after! Its not just dropping off the thing.... And then picking it up... he consults, calls, plans, gives progress updates, throws in some wacky yet genius ideas and on top, is just so passionate about his BMWs that I just won't take my car anywhere else now. It's a 30 mile trip so not exactly down the road but when its in his hands, I know the workmanship and quality will be second to none. He's a top guy and I'm sure you all will come to know that in due course once the car has been completed... So watch this space Wish me luck! Last edited by AWBimmer; 01-27-2013 at 06:25 AM.. |

Man I missed my car ALOT by the way I was driving it!! 3 weeks+ and I don't think I've ever driven a car with so much life!
Anyways, I'l cut to the chase. It Looks wicked!! Must thank P 5UML for the Boot Build itself since that was the biggest part done already! It's not calibrated so the bass does struggle to come to life but it can certainly be felt. Even then, the bass just pumps through your chest delivering that submile low note that I've craved for months and months! I do however have 2 complaints: 1 - Bluetooth no longer works and fails to connect! (Phone can 'discover' the car but doesn't seem to connect!!) 2 - SOS warning light on OBC now comes on everytime car is turned on (in Amber). The message reads something like 'OBC failure' or so... I will take a guess that it has something to do with the disconnecting of the battery but how can I reset it to eliminate these? Also, any help on calibrating the MS8 will not go amiss!! No pics I don't want to upload for a few more weeks or until it's done!! |

look foward to seeing the pics,Ive been without my car for about 3 days and have been itching to get back in so 3 weeks wthout...
With the SOS I think what has happened is when the passenger footwell has been opened there is a connector under there which connects to thte top of the footwell - this is for the sos feature - I left mine disconnected by accident when I was installing mine as I wanted to asee if all worked before putting back to together. It came up with same messgae, I plugged it back in and all was well. If its still connected then may just need error code resetting via inpa/dis The bluetooth, I am presuming when the harness was fitted the jumper behind the HU has not been switched that little green tab? I am in London this Sat if I have some time would it be possible to come over and have a quick listen if you got some time? |

The BT and SOS has got me really bugged out So are you thinking I have to open up the trims, take out the HU and connect the green tab? WOudl you have a pic to demonstrate which it is and if it needs switching, do I need to buy the green tab from BMW themselves? If so, could you point me in the right direction of a part no?? ATM it doesn't sound great, but hopefully I'll get time to tinker around after work during the week! I'll dfef let you know about Saturday by Thursday, I may have some guests coming over so not 100% sure I'll be free but would be great to mee if possible. He is the man indeed!! Sam2, where are youuuuu? |

This thread is closely related to my SOS and Bluetooth problems. I'm really hoping it's not full on ripping up the center dash job, but moreso in the link above. Will report back soon. |

Mo,
I just went in the car and followed the 4 step guide from the link I posted above but that didn't do anything. I'm beginning to think it is probably the green fibre optic cable from OEM Harness to Technic Harness on HU Side which was missed out. Do I need to buy any parts from BMW to do this, how eay / difficult is it? |
