long warm up, normal operating temps?

My car seems to take a really long time to warm up. After about 30 mins of driving in 30 degree weather, oil temps will only reach around 170, hitting 190 max at times. The heat seems to be a little too cool as well. I had a code for map thermostat, but I cleared it and it hasn't come back. I feel like I might need a thermostat, but I wanted to hear if anyone else has had this problem before I make the $100 purchase.

So......what's the issue?

It all depends on how you drive in those 30 min. That should help the warming of the oil temp.

It take about 15 minutes before I even hit 160. Normal. Just don't drive hard till you get some temp in the oil

What is an acceptable oil temp for wot? As soon as the needle budges from 160F? 180F? 200F? I'm curious because I went wot this morning for a couple of seconds when my oil temp needle just had started moving from the 160 F point (170F-175F maybe) and I'm wondering if I did any harm. My 07 did not have the oil cooler that my 08 has, and seemed to warm up a little quicker.

200+ is usually good for riding the boost wave, but try not to hold it WOT for long. Maybe just a short burst to get in front of a truck or something shouldn't hurt a thing.

Think of all the women drivers who WOT their 335's before the water temp has even picked up.

Doing it once won't do any noticable harm whatsoever.
