Autocar 335d

There is a good article in this weeks Autocar. One of the road testers has an Alpina D3 on long term test and swapped it for a week for a 335d coupe and loved it! The performance was far better than he was expecting and wonders why anyone would want something faster! Very impressed with engine and gearbox. Worth a read.

Why did you cancel your D3 order if you don't mind me asking? What does a D3 do for you / cost these days?

Alpina a bit different but also quite a bit cheaper than 335d I would've thought.

Yep. Love Sutcliffe's closing comment on the 335d - "Selling a car like this must be like taking sweets from a sleeping child".

The D3 was a compromise car. Im fed up getting 17mpg not the cost but filling up every other day was just well pissing me off.

The D3 looks fantastic it drives very well indeed, ALPINA use different springs and dampers and the ride on 19"s is simply amazing it also does 45mpg.

But i began to think if im going to have a deisel then im going to have the best diesel engine in the world

So thats why a changed my order to the 335d.

so for me future mods would be 19" ALPINA classic alloys, Hartge ecu upgrade or DMS and the Quaiffe LSD

Then i think it would be truly sensational

Steve.

I find these far easier to clean than my OEM ones.

They`re 19`s on standard M sport set-up. It`s been lowered since but haven`t taken any after pics.

Here`s 2 other pics, again before it was lowered.

The wheels look superb. Are they original Hartge or copies??

Where did you get them, and at what cost?

Thanks

Steve.
