RSS Feeds via Connected Drive

Hi folks,

Have got my car 'online' with connected drive which is good as the last owner didn't register it - which means his loss is my gain !!

Anyway, i've managed to send a link to an address via google maps, plus send a message to the car.

However, I can't find where the RSS feed is meant to be ?? I've chosen 3 feeds via the connected drive, but I don't know where they are !!

Any ideas / information would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ian

Go to "BMW Online" then when that has loaded go to "News" and there should be a "My News" option somewhere in there... open that and the feeds that you set in the connected drive portal show up.

You can set bimmerpost RSS feed, but you will basically just get the headlines from the front page displaying (and read out to you if you so wish).

I'll try and remember to get a bit of video to demonstrate it.

Effone -

mjh93sa means go to BMW online (in the car on the I drive, not on a PC), then go to the 'news' sections where you can usually read all the news and weather etc, then go to 'my news' where you'll find your RSS headers.

BTW its rubbish - you can only read the headers of the RSS feeds you add.

hi DB...

ok mate no problem - but for the life of me i couldn't see the 'online' option within the idrive menu

perhaps i don't have this option - could it be the case that i only have the 'connected' part which can deal with google maps and messages, but nothing else ??

thanks,

ian

Go back to the main menu (press 'menu' until you don't go back anymore on the i-drive controller)

Select BMW Services

In there should be a few things, one of which is BMW Online.

Press that!

If its shaded out then it may not be activated on your car (it takes a minute or two from start up to become available while the systems fires up).

just to give y'all an update...

for my car, the RSS feeds don't work - mine is an 07 plate, and this function wasn't available until a year later... so even though i can see the function on the website, it's not going to happen for me...

not the end of the world... although having the google maps and message service working is really cool...

thanks to all of you that offered advice... ultimately anneka @ sytner made a few enquiries and let me know the score !!

regards,

ian b
