Not bad but you would lose the flash to pass feature.

That sounds like a brilliant idea, however, I didn't think the angel eyes were on with the DRLs on. I'll have to check at lunch.

I was right... no angel eyes with DRLs on.

Serious??

No its a staple all over the world. In Germany if they flash and you dont get out of the way ohhhh boy wait for some sh*t to start!

They used to teach it in driving school, no wonder half the people dont get out of the way anymore when you flash.

I have a question about the resistors, I want to do this over the weekend when I actually have time, but I cant order the resistors since they wont obviously be here in time.

The only place close that I know has them is Radio Shack, and the highest they have are 8ohm 20watt versions.

Will that work?

They should work fine but hot. If you do go that route consider a heatsink. In this implementation it will draw 18W of power -- you are within specs. Also, 8ohm should run error free.

Here you go....this represents just one side, so repeat for the other.

BTW, for those with the MyCarr ICE, you can do the same thing. Instead of plugging the orange and green wires onto the ICE, tap onto the external Red and Black wires of the ICE. Red is +12V and Black is GND.

Thanks they are working fine, and actually not running as hot as I thought they would. Dont have them near any plastic or other wiring though just in case.

UW. Nice job and a very detailed DIY. Did you consider changing standard lights to LUX? Much brighter(even compared to e92) and white color. Highly recommend

BTW In one of the LUX threads different color options were discussed (I recall couple guys on West coast were considering red coronas) and I think MDS said he can make it any color you like. Might want to give it a shut and PM MDS. GL.

Hi joebaggg

So far I still think that the car will complain when forcing power into the AE's while the ECU also provides power to them. This will lower the current comming from the ECU, and it might take it as an error.

Has someone found different news yet?
Im working on a similar mod as this (with resistors to fool the ECU) but with few other sensors so you will be able to turn off AE's with the headlight switch, and so that the car can still switch on the AE's when it wants to. It will also dual serve as WELCOME lights function when you unlock the car.

See this for updates:
