Yes, my car had paddles from factory!

It was a while ago but I'm pretty sure they worked in DS & not D.... either way by the LCI buttons with paddles won't work correctly.... unless you can code it to work

Rite!! So its now 9.05am on a very foggy sunday morning!! And ive had a breakthrough!!!!! Been obsessed with completing my paddles retrofit PROPERLY!!

So since ite been a matter of trial and error, i decided to try somthing else so...After updatin my daten to v49 i updated my egs module(gearbox) to the latest software and guess what!!!!

MY MODDED LCI PADDLES ARE SHIFTING IN D!!!!
I have my paddles wired directly (bypassing the MF BUTTONS and I also have the custom harness wired from the back of the wheel to the gear shifter( i also have the two yellow wires present in my car so the next step is to connect direct and try to activate them the way the factory would. But thats another story)!

For now i very very happy. I have fully functional lci paddles in my 2007 e92. All the wiring and work done by myself so thats added just a bit more!!! BEEN WORKIN ON THIS FOR 3 MONTHS!!!! Thanks to everyone who commented and made suggestions couldnt do it without you!!

So to recap!!! If you retrofitted flappy paddles and they dont shift in d mode but shift in ds mode, you need to update your gearbox software!

Brilliant. Finally you reached there.

I have not done this and if I was to do my plan was
-Add correct VO
-Code EGS
-If it does not work, update the gear box and code EGS again.

Glad it worked. You are mad about your retrofits. I had to drive in this foggy weather to do my shift but like you I coded 'Launch control' this morning at 8 am before leaving to work!

In your case, you bypassed the steering wheel buttons and they are connected directly to your EGS.

What you mean by you have two yellow wires?

yes ive retrofitted most things...love it!! whats is launch control and how do u code it.

in the connector plug at the back of the steering wheel there pins 4& 6 i believe. these are yellow and yellow/black in colour.

these are the wires that go directly to the gearbox and are present in all cars with paddles from the factory. BUT!!! for some reason they are also present in SOME cars that didnt come with shifters and are dormant.

SO IM JUST BEING FUSSY, WORTH A SHOT TO ADD 2XA TO THE VO, CODE THE GEARBOX THEN INSTEAD OF SPLICING INTO THE SHIFTER WIRES I WILL CONNECT THE YELLOW WIRES INSTEAD.(AS I HAD REMOVED THEM FROM THE CONNECTOR TO ADD THE HARNESS FOR THE SHIFTER SPLICE)

FOR NOW IM JUST CHUFFED!!! VID TO FOLLOW, UPLOADING AS WE SPEAK!!

Paddle Shifter Wires.

Look At These Pics, One Is Blank And The Other Has The Dormant Yellow Wires.

FYI I FOLLOWED THIS DIY, THEN UPDATED MY EGS WITH WINKFP.

What really would help is a guide on how to modify the lci paddles as there's only been a few that's ever done this mod (in the UK)!

So...can you clarify what is needed to upgrade the gearbox software? (Oh and I would be obliged if you would keep it simple as I come from an era when cars didn't have or need computers! )
