Is it to prevent bad connection?
And did you just drill a hole in the fuse to get in to the metal?
I don't like wires and adapters, so I hard wired the accessory and hid the wiring. Only 3 inches of the wire is exposed.

The screw I used as a ground was already there.

I think he meant why not buy a female ciggy lighter extension cable and then put the navi adpater into that rather than mutilate the power cable that came with the nav.

I only have 2 inches of wire showing. The exposed adaptor also charges my phone.

Everything is working, so I'm quite happy with it...

Looks great! How much you paid for the unit and installation?

Looks great!! What about when you use the air conditioning? Do you turn off the centre vents? Does the car still get cooled down adequately?

I dont think it would cause a problem, the car has so many vents that it wont make a difference, and theres some space between them. Whenever I put my hands in front of the center vents I barely feel the air blowing.

I didn't choose for the appropiate CANBUS interface which enables the steering wheel buttons... 'cause it would cost me like 500 euro over here! I don't have Logic 7... but I don't think that you can connect optical cables to the Avic-x3...

I don't think it would be a problem, because I've never turned on the centre air vents to heat or cool down the car... and another thing is that I don't flip out the screen as much as I thought I would... just when I'm on the Navi.

btw: more pics in another thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=51

can anyone write up a DIY for installing an aftermarket headunit?

I would love to have that JVC in my car. small single single din headunit with navigation built in......

how would one go about replacing the headunit? is it just a matter of a wiring harness and getting the radio out?

thanks

Can someone tell me where the guy with the jvc unit found the VSS wire. How hard was it to find and was it installed?

Thanks

hey guys, I did that install myself it was pretty easy, as far as the navigation goes you need to buy the canbus adaptor and split that into an ecu wiring harness ( CanBus comes with instruction on which cable to tap in) pm me if you need more info or pics that i took during installation.

The Kuda mount that goes to the speaker grille in front is a very good option, allows for a very clean install. I'll post a pic of mine (though I guess it will leave traces on the dash after being installed for a few years).
