I have an M-sport 335i. I have been trying to confirm if the springs are different in the sport and the M-sport versions. My front springs are "D6" and the rears are "D3". Are yours the same? I have heard that the rear springs were upgraded to linear type springs by BMW on cars built after Nov 2010. My car was built in May 2010.

I just ordered Dinan camber plates and Koni FSD shocks and will be isntalling them over the weekend. I would like to update the rear springs.

M-sport 335i ..which chasis body do you have..e90,91,92 or 93..without saying which body you have..things can get confusing as makkan has a e90 and then you guys comparing the springs maybe e90 v e93 and wondering why it's different....

I have a e90 with auto transmission. Searching around I understand my car should have the D7 springs.....but I have D6 in front. I would not mind having a bit more clearance upfront and leveling the car a bit. Local roads are horrible.....

I just installed Koni FSD damper and Dinan camber plates. Very happy with the upgrade, Konis ride sperb on the street, and provide bit more control than stock M sports dampers. Front camber is now fixed at -2 deg. I went with fixed camber plates to keep the stock rubber isolated strut mounts and not introduce any noise or vibration.

Will D7 front springs be stiffer or raise my car? Have the rear springs changed to something else that D3?

In answer to the OP - M sport has different springs, dampers, anti roll bars and bump stops. I spent a lot of time looking into this is 2009.

The spring 'tags' like D3 or D7 etc are ratings within a certain spring size and can only be checked using the parts computer at a dealers.

The D3 or D4 etc are determined by the model variant, engine and options. Things like sunroof and auto are heavy and will change the springs fitted at manufacture, so there is no way to work it our yourself.

The best handling E90 is the Alpina B3.

It uses M-Sport struts, and then the springs off the 330xd, this makes the car sit around 1.5cm higher, but they then put over sized tyres on which give 3cm more sidewall overall, this, along with the tyres not being run flats, is what gives the car such a nice ride and so much grip.

All from the BMW parts bin, just cleverly put together.

I wonder if somebody can kindly explain what is difference b/w SE and M sports suspension of E90?

Is it only springs? or something else?

Also what is the best way to lower SE to M sports level or further?

Can you simply buy M sports springs and put those into SE version?

Thanks.
I read somewhere that the m-sport uses bilstein dampers whereas the se uses boge ones.

I know the pre lci cars used Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs on the m-Sport where as the se car uses a cheap Boge/Sachs combo.
This is why an SE and M-Sport both on 17's the M-Sport soaked up poor UK road surfaces far better, plus handled better too.

Sorry for digging this thread up from the grave, but i'm toying of the idea of what suspension setup to change my SE 320d to, (ideally something OEM that gives a good stance) did the Msports give much of difference in height? did you just change the front shocks and springs all round?

Cheers

I've changed all 4 shocks and springs to M sports initially and later replaced springs with Eibach Sportsline.
