Thanks for your reply. Thats what I was initially thinking but a bunch of my buddies thought the 5 spoke 313 looked more like a summer wheel and the BBS CH-R looked more like a winter wheel. But then I was thinking the 313 as a 19" will show a lot of brake and rotor and I don't plan on getting a big break kit or painted calipers or the like.

ordering my 335is today...it's coming end of january and i want to be prepared...
have any of you guys driven in the snow or ice with the car yet? what's your winter setup? anyone run the standard 18x8 and 18x8.5 313's with blizzak LM60s 225/40 all around instead of the performance tires it comes with? if this tire swap is feasible can i re-use the tire pressure sensors that come with the car?

$hit. I went with the 313 in 19". Gotta find a winter set now. Along with some painted reflectors. Eventually I'll need a drop and maybe some wheel spacers.

Best tune for 335is?
Hello to all 335is owners. I recently traded my 2008 X5 4.8i for 2013 335is and I am loving everything about the car especially mpg.
I have been following this forum for quite sometime but it never explains which tune is the best for 335is. I'm sure personal preference matters but I would like to stick with what other 335is owners have experienced with their tuning. I would also like to know if you can install/flash on top of another tune. For example, COBB tuning on top of JB4 or vice versa. I'm quite confused because both tunings have similar maps.... I saw a thread about this so I'm really confused... For those of you who have JB4 or COBB tuning already, what was your gain after installation/flash? Since 335is is already pre-tuned (320hp) stock, are you close to 400hp or above? As of right now, I have BMS DCI added not too long ago and I plan on getting a DP soon. Please clear up my confusion and upon finding out which gives me more performance for the bucks, I will make a decision on which tuning I will go with. Thanks!! |

320 stock or 300 stock. both N54 with same mods will have same numbers lol. but some cars are different. Only difference is our DCT will give us an advantage and also that we have extra cooling and etc etc. |

How do you like your COBB tune? Have you had JB4 tuning done before? If so, how does it compare to COBB pre-tuned maps? What was your hp/torque after COBB tune? And you mentioned with the same mods, the numbers will be the same... Does that mean after JB4 on a 335is will be equal to JB4 on a 335i? (excluding cooling advantages and exhausts) Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm under the impression that you can only run 1 map at a time... So how is it possible to install/flash a tune top of another tune? So confused... |

Ok let's break it down. you say 1 map at a time. you mean cobb or JB4? Each tune has it's own map for your mods. On Cobb I used to be on Stage 2 Aggresive+FMIC. Because I have Full Bolt Ons. Exhaust,Downpipes,Intake,Front Mount Intercooler. So With that map it makes more power since I have mods to back it up. If your a guy that just want just alittle more power and no big risk than Cobb Stage 1 is perfect for you. It is believe a 30/40% increase of HP and TQ. I've had JB4 and for the price of the piggyback, it is GOOD but I wanted MORE responsive power so I went with Cobb. On both tune you will need what they call an Oil Catch Cann. If your making more power or PSI aka Boost than stock (8)psi than your gonna get more oil into your intercooler and such and will lead to more problems down the line. also with more than STOCK power you will start to wear more things down. for example, Spark Plugs, Fuel Injectors, Coil Packs. Normal wear and tear. Pm me if you need help with anything and for the price your willing to pay for I can help navigate you what you would need for your budget :P -Yodaime ALSO! For the point you said a tune over a tune. I've seen people use JB4 to run Meth and E85 and Cobb for the main tune. Because Cobb as I know to my knowledge can't run meth yet. JB4 has options for you to control the meth. Correct me if i'm wrong people. goodluck |

But if you can answer me this... JB4 on 335i is equal to JB4 on 335is (assuming both running 93 oct with same mods, same map) Which has more output? Thanks for the heads up. I should be receiving my JB4 G5 by end of this week. I will keep you posted and if I do have questions, you'll be the first one to know. lol Maybe I'll turn to COBB later down the road but I think JB4 will do for now. Next up is DP but I read from another thread that CPO warranty does not like DPs... so I'm debating... Anyways, thanks for your input! Much appreciated! ^^ |

and yes jb4 on 335i and jb4 on 335is most likely put out same numbers even tho 335is has 320 and 335i has 300. it's the same piggyback setup to adjust psi and other things. BUT It varies on Tranny for instant and also cooling to make another difference. in my theory jb4 335i vs jb4 335is with DCT = DCT winner. |

Cha ching~!
JB4 + G5 installation completed! I can definitely feel the difference and that's before mixing E85! After installation, I took it for a test drive with map5... (I have BMS DCI only) first few WOT runs were very impressive until car jerked and threw a code at me. 29F2 - Fuel Pressure....!! So I pulled over and searched for the code immediately and found out it was a common issue. I guess running map 5 with no E85 mixed is too much...? So I switched to map1 restarted the car and did few more WOT runs and no codes. (Keep in mind that I have less than 1000 miles on my 335is) I'm confused though... I thought G5 was suppose to fix minor code issues..? Oh and also, when I start up JB4 interface on my computer it does say, "interface settings does not match G5 board" Was I suppose to update the firmware? Please advise! |

You know there's a break in period right? I think its 1100-1500..
also you have to do 3 3rd gear pulls so your jb4 can really get every bit of power out. |

To answer both of you: Yeah. I do know there is a break-in period which I just passed 1200 miles yesterday. But weird thing happend when I started up my car this morning. "Service Engine Soon Light" started to flash couple times and it disappeared. Turned the car off and started again and it wasn't there anymore... What does this mean?? Anyways, after couple days of driving with JB4 under map5 with 30/70 e85/93 mix, I'm no longer receiving any codes. I guess the car just needed to auto-tune it self. The car pulls harder than ever however there is a bog that I feel when WOT time to time. When WOT, RPM will increase then suddenly drop down couple notches and it will start to increase again. After some research, I found out that its the clutch slipping...? Please correct me if I'm wrong. As you know already know, the car is brand new. I JUST passed 1200 miles break in period. Not sure if it's really the clutch slipping issue... On the otherside, I did smoke a random 2013 Mustang GT 5.0 (Stock) off the highway 60~120ish? I did have a head start since the Mustang reacted too late to the third honk. lol We ended up getting off on the same exit and we came to a stop light. I rolled my windows down and I said "Nice car! Anything done under the hood?" And he said, "Thanks man! You too! No mods yet since I just got it 2 weeks ago." Then I replied, "ME TOO!! LOL" then light turned green and we went on to our separate ways. JB4 definitely helped me "beef" up my car. But back to my original topic. Overall, I'm 50/50 on JB4 G5 tuning due to mainly 2 reasons. (for now) 1. Inconsistency. Don't get me wrong. JB4 system has came a long way and it is surprising to see this much gain off piggy back system especially with e85 mixed. (You truly do now know the real power until you mix e85 lol) However, for some reason, when I run back to back WOT pulls, one run I will receive max/peak boost at ~16psi but the next run will be around ~9~13psi. And the run after that will max/peak boost at ~15psi again. I really enjoy the extra gain of power/boost but consistency is what I am seeking over few extra peak boost. 2. Installation. Although it wasn't hard to install JB4, I personally think that if cost isn't an issue, I would get the COBB to re-flash the ecu for much deeper/in-depth tuning. In fact, you don't even need to open the hood for COBB installation process. Kick back and have a beer during the installation. With that being said, I did purchase a COBB AP and I should have it by next week. Additional comparison between JB4/COBB will be followed after using COBB AP so please stay tuned. I do have couple questions about COBB AP. Because there are numerous different OTS maps available off COBB website, 1. How do you know which map to go with? Currently I have BMS DCI only. Will I receive any codes if I run Stage2+FMIC Aggressive map (linear throttle) even though it says FMIC, DP is required? 2. Can you run RACE maps? Since 335is has extra cooling capability, are you able to run maps that exceeds your FBO requirements such as FMIC/DP/Exhaust mods? (Not for everyday commute) 3. Are there any protune shops in Michigan for Michigan N54 owners? If not, does e-protune have that much effect over regular protune? What is the gain after e-protune/protune compared to OTS maps? I understand that protune is specifically designed for your own vehicle but there must be an average gain right? Please advise. ^^ Here are few logs I've done below: Last edited by hellomyBMW; 11-30-2012 at 11:03 AM.. |

Your gonna need back up parts running it like this. Since your boost happy go get an FMIC aka front mount intercooler for better cooling. get an intake or filter for your box. also get an OCC aka oil catch cann. since your running more boost than stock, oil is gonna make a new home in your intercooler and will flood down the line and will lead to bigger problems.
