A guy I work with has just taken delivery of brand new 63 plate 520d, his girlfriend works for BMW in Bracknell and it's a staff perk which they are taking advantage of, where the fuel cap is, there is another cap with ad-blue stamped on the cap, he's not been told anything from BMW about topping up with Ad-blue, so I'm just wondering if anyone on here has this on their car and if so, what's the process of topping up with Ad-blue as he can't see a gauge for it anywhere.

that's the urea tank, it's an additive for diesels to decrease exhaust emissions

the computer will tell him when it's time to top up

Thank you, he was worried incase it ran low and he didn't know what to put in it. He's been thinking all sorts of warning lights could start appearing
