Buy JB+ used.. spend the rest on tires unless you bought tire insurance for the terrible RFTs.

P.S. Almost everyone here is immensely biased short a few people, do not trust anyone's advice blindly.

You'll notice that everyone who has suggested the Procede has provided examples of specific features that make it stand out from the competetion. If you're looking for something cheaper, protect your investment and stay away from a tune at this stage. It's not like the 335i is lacking power in stock form
How much? I would need a rain check until im back in Florida

I have done my research and believe the JB+ is the best tune for me. I'm in a similar situation OP. Car is bone stock, I don't want to spend a ton of money on a tune, and I don't really want to increase boost too much bc I'm going to medical school in the fall so money will be tight for wear and tear on the engine.

I do have one question. Is there a difference in buying a used PnP tune versus brand new?

Besides price...

PROcede's are VIN locked.
JB4 no difference, might have to update the firmware from your computer
COBB no difference, might have to update the firmware from your computer & "clean up" the AP (delete old logs & maps you won't use)

Just to clarify, new $495 Procede Rev2.5s are not VIN locked. Only older units that are currently are locked.

OP let me know if you need any help. It's hard to sift through the opinions, facts, marketing, misconceptions and erroneous remarks here.

I feel bad for anyone looking to tune.

$495 and that's for the version with no VIN lock. I'd imagine the resale value would be similar to purchase price once they run out of stock.

Do you're research well do not listen to any of us...Just hit up search and study for you're self, everyone in here will give you opinions on which tune they currently have and just because theres tensions between jb and procede users they will go back and forth advising you to get the tune they have. Just do you're research and you'll be happy, trust me.

The only tension is between those who spread misinformation and actual information.

That is true, not saying vendors/tuners give wrong info..but some of the users yes. This forum is well aged and plenty of info on here for someone just to do a simple search and come up with his/her own decision.

It's not quite misinformation, it's the withheld information that bothers me.

I consider those two the same thing. A lie by omission is still a lie IMO

I found out the hard way and almost ended up in jail because I thought I would play around and do a little drifting until I hit a slick spot in the road at 30+ and ended up in the curb. Some dumb ass called it in to the police and told the police I hit a street light. Even though I didn't cause any damage or hit anything other than the curb they charged me with reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver (hit n run). Fortunately they didn't get any statements from anyone who actually witnessed the event and they didn't have grounds for hit n run because I didn't hit anything other than the curb and I already reported it to the insurance... But in the end, it all cost me an extra $1500 just to play around for a few minutes. I'm just thinking about the mods I wanted that I'll end up having to wait for now just because I turned off stability and traction control.

So word of advise, keep your traction control on and learn how to drive with it on. Unless you have deep pockets and have an extra cars to drive, have fun.
I suppose a bit of common sense and minimum amounts of driver skill should be applied to turning the traction control off.

If someone has neither then they should follow your advice.
