Air Intake Rattle after K&N Air filter swap
I have swapped the filter before and never had this problem.
This week I swapped the stock filter back to K&N after 15k service at dealer and now my air intake housing rattles in the morning after startup. Rattle seems to go away after the car warms up. Any suggestions on how to cushion the air intake box?

Thank, but I dont have any clips. I Undo two bolts, unclip sensor, and loosen clamp around hose to remove.
I'm wondering if I broke the guide pin at the bottom, does anyone have a picture of what it looks like? The bottom of the intake has a round hole for a peg to fit.

That peg that you talk about, should have a round rubber "donut" on it, which fits into the cup on the bottom of the air intake. Mine popped off when I changed my filter, and I had to root around in the belly pan, under the motor to find it. It is about the size of a golf ball. It is item #9 in the picture.

Air Intake Part numbers
Have a look at www.realOEM.com and look under E90 323. I would copy the page here, but it does not work too well.

found it for the 328i. . . you have to look at the FUEL PREPARATION SYSTEM => INTAKE MUFFLER on real oem to see the correct diagram.

I was trying to solve the rattling problem and the cause was this missing rubber buffer. As far as the K&N, acceleration feels a little better, not that much of a "roar", and as far as performance. I could'nt say since i don't race/track but you may find more info on hear as far as more data on the K&N.

After my "episode" with losing the rubber part, I just dropped a bit of silicone in the hole and reseated it on its peg. It will never drop off that peg now
