Pulling mods for dealer visit.
Hey all,
I just pulled all my mods: JB4, vrsf dp and cp and bms intake. There's no CEL light or anything out of the ordinary. Am I safe to take the car in for the VANOS bolt recall and oil change or do I have to drive it a while to clear 'things'? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks,

Unless they are doing an inspection I don't see why readiness would be an issue, if you are paranoid though you can run through the OBDII drive cycle.
http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...ained-smogging In TX they have never said anything about my CP or BMS Intake, I recently got a DP installed so I haven't gone in with that but I know someone who just had warranty work done even though he was catless.

The recall will be done whether the car has mods or not, the dealer can't refuse to do a recall. Period. So you're fine. It is probably good that you took the JB4 off though, since the tech probably wouldn't have any idea what he/she was looking at, and would probably install it wrong.

I'm FBO + JB4, I removed the tubing from the OCC and reconnected the stock tubes for the recall, that way they didn't have to handle non stock equipment. Set the JB4 to Map 0, no issues whatsoever. I had the plugs changed while they were in there. The tech asked to road test it with me, I think he liked it!

Thank you all for the replies. I thought about leaving all the mods alone for the dealer visit but I'm almost due for emissions as well. The DP install wasn't as bad this time. First time it took me 4.5hrs this time only took 2.5hr.

I would have left the CP and I take on and pulled the DP and jb4, but then again it's for recall so they have to do it regardless. I play dumb at the dealer when the ask about the CP, I tell them my Indy mechanic told me to run it for reliability.
