BMW performance brake kit not for 335i?
I am considering to put BMW performance brake kit (originally intended only up to 328i) on E93 335i
BMW Performance brakes are the same as the OEM 135i dimension: 338x26mm front 6 pistons 324x22mm rear 2 pistons OEM 335i has 348x30 336x22 but with one piston Do you think that these brakes are a good upgrade for 335i ? Smaller 6 piston is better than bigger 1 piston? It seems that BMW will not release a performance brake kit for 335i because 6 piston 348mm brakes wont fit series 335i 17inch wheels |

the 335 has already very very good brakes. If you want to get more braking power you need to go for a BBK. i am just going to change the front rotors for the looks and change pads, lines and oil all around to increase performance of the original set. Really dont have the cash for a 5-6 K BBK .

OP, do not "downgrade" do smaller brakes. the multi-piston calipers may offer more brake "feel", but the smaller rotors will offer less overall performance and less heat dissipation than the stock 335i rotors. |

Quick answer: not a good idea, especially for heavy E93. OEM brakes on 335 are excellent for street.
uuni, what have you heard regarding a Perf brake kit for 335? Hey, OT, but I will be in Finland this May for a week and have a couple days to spend touristing. Which town is more fun, Helsinki or Turku?

you must really punish the brakes to get fading. I find them really good, much better then the M3 CSL / Z4M, even with the original pads. Only issue is the pads wear fast when they get hot, but still no fading. Make sure you regularly change your fluid!
Changing to the smaller performance brakes is a downgrade, don't do it. Take some good pads instead. If you are really tracking, then you will have to invest in a BBK. |

I agree with above. My plan is for new rotors, new pads and painting the calipers. As long as you're not flogging the car on the track, the OEM calipers are fantastic. Fluid could be changed out as well, Red Line is probably what I would throw in.

I agree with Tony (and enrita) - either keep your OEM discs and upgrade to steel lines and better pads, or go all the way with a BBK. The BMW Performance brakes are not intended to be used with our car, and the E93 is 200kg heavier again than the E90/E92, so it will not be an improvement. Tony trashed the Performance brakes in one afternoon at the 'Ring, IIRC. Alpina_B3_Lux

I've been there and done that. The stock brakes are very good and the 135 brakes aren't as great as you're lead to believe. I have experience with them both plus a Stoptech BBK, all on the track under hard braking on the same tracks. |
