Cigarette lighter not working

Hey guys.
I was using a USB port adaptor to charge my phone whilst driving; pulled the adaptor out without looking and another USB I had in there went down in to the socket. Must have caused some sort of 'short circuit' because the lighter isnt working now.

Do you know if this is something I can fix myself?

Yes, change the fuse.

Would that be something I can buy at Halfords or any old place?

Fuse is in fuse box which is behind a flap at rear of glovebox. Would get from Halfords for about 30p - dealer would probably swap it for free if you asked nicely.

Or they might wanna tom and jerry you. Swapping it yourself would be real easy and quick.

Had the same issue on the e90 and the fuse was fine - I had to replace the ciggerete lighter bit (port & wire) - cost about £25 i think

If you mean "is there an on/off switch" no there isn't, it comes on with the ignition

Fuse 08 bears the symbol for an auxillary power connector, i.e. cig lighter.
