V10 in an E92 anybody?

hello,
did anyone drop a V10 from E60 M5 and E63 M6 into an E92?

tuner hartge did it, and a friend of mine transplanted the V10 in an E46 M3, complete with the SMG III

why i am asking is i found an E92 with front damage for around 6000$ so the project popped to my head

Chassis flexes too much. Can do full throttle on a turn with a V10 installed on the E9x chassis, it feels like its warping.

You'll have to do some chassis reinforcement for sure.

I heard someone in Canada (Vancouver) has done it to their E90.

I think its going to cost a bunch to get the frame right, Unless you plan on integrating a tube frame in it anyway to handle the v10?

That's hilarious, because the S85 V10 makes 380 LB-FT of torque. While that's almost 100 more than the E92 M3, most 335i's here make more than 360 LB-FT at the wheels (~425+ at the engine). The E9X chassis is plenty strong and stiff to handle these power levels.

Do it OP! I just wouldn't transplant SMG3, I find it to be a really annoying transmission... If you do, make sure you drive a car with it before dropping a ton of money on the conversion.

What?! Why do you guys think this will be a problem? There are people on here developing ~650 LB-FT at the engine, and the frame is just fine...

-EDIT-
The frame on the silver E92 looks pretty bent up. That's gonna take some time on the puller to get straight...

I'd love to see where you got this information from. The S85 only makes 385ft.lbs. of torque. Many of the N54 guys are pushing into the 480ft.lbs. range without this issue. Many of the supercharged M3 guys are also pushing at or above this level and again I haven't read of any issues.

IMO that car is far past the damage threshold I'd be willing to go. They probably want $5-8k for that chassis and then figure you spend another $5-8k in getting it strait and parts. I think you'd be better off just buying a high mileage older coupe. Just my opinion, we are on different sides of the world so things may be different.

Dont mess with a puller. A new rail is 750 per side and if you strip the interior prior and have all the right drill bits it would only take a day to cut and install new rails.

Just my opinion: Don't rush these kind of things. Take your time and search around. Who knows, maybe you'll find another car in far better condition.

Can you get a better brighter picture of the front end damage? I seen a lot worse direct front end hit from a e90 m3, even the front wheels arm were bent back and the wheels were destroyed.

My brother in law let me keep the emblem as they ordered new wheels anyhow..
The car was back to new again in 3weeks time while working on other cars too. He had told me he would make 7 to 8 grand from the insurance company for the completed work.

I had come in to see if he can help me with my wrecked 2009 4runner. He notice that the radiator support bracket that is welded on the frame was bent completely of the frame and from measuring he found the frame needed to be pulled also. He said "what the hell did you hit bro?!!!" I told him a blue e92 325i and he said with confidence "ok ok yea, those cars have one very strong defense frame in fact we have one in the shop right now" That's when I got to see the m3.

Just my 2 cents

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Unless you have really deep pockets, no. For the price that it would cost you to do the swap (assuming you want everything done correctly without cutting corners), you could buy an E60 M5.
