That's terrible! I thought I was bad. You should go somewhere for the day!
Mine would be the same if I didn't do the odd few days in Devon / Wales etc. with the missus. When DO you use it? I really shouldn't comment, that is probably my annual mileage up until this year when we started going more places in this country for breaks and driving and my folks moved to derby.

I'm not sure what has happened with the E92 to be honest ... I'm wondering if the odometer is faulty!
Previously the Z4 averaged about 4000 miles a year (sold it when it was just over 8K miles) but it feels like I use the coupe more. I tend to use it more at the weekends, but the journey to the train station in the morning is only 1.8 miles, although occasionally I do take it into Glasgow for work which puts on about 22 miles each way.

I was told that about any cars...best to have long runs at least every now and then to balance out the short ones.

I know what your saying - short journeys not good for the car. The engine is really starting to loosen up a bit, and expect there is still a bit to go

... and I always keep an eye on the level of charge on the battery, which does always seem to indicate green and healthy!

My missus bought her current car with stupidly low miles, we chose it for that reason after looking at ten of them, and ''touchwood'' its not had any major probs Carlos

What should the ambient temperature be when one carries out the checks? Should the car be on a level surface? Do you carry out the check as per the manual?Or do you use your own instinct? I'm sure CarloshasanHNDincarmaintenance can let us know! A risk assessment of carrying out the above checks would also be useful. |

I thought I did low mileage! Got mine in mid-December and just coming up to 6000 miles. Journey to work is only 5 miles. Got a weekend in Wales coming up soon though, so should add a bit more on and we're intending going to Cornwall for a week at Easter. Just don't seem to find the need/time to drive long distances very often.

Nice pictures Carl.
My car is up to 1500 miles now (in 4 weeks) so it has 'run in' but needs a break! Had a 660 mile return trip to the West Country this week, travelled down the M6/M5 and started to give it a bit of beans. I love the mid range pull, it is effortless to accelerate from 50 to 'very fast' in short order and its feels incredibly quick. Managed to pick up a little scrap on the underside of the front spolier, can't see it so not that fussed, but it rubbed against a kerb when I parked I have learnt not to park to close to the kerb! Also found out that satnav doesnt work on water! Went across the Torpoint/Plymouth ferry and the satnav does not give a position 'on water'. The position remained firmly on the shore where I drove onto the ferry and did not move until I drove off the other side. Interestingly the elevation on the position page registered as 125ft! |

I'm almost up to 1200miles now (4 weeks in) and starting to let rip a bit. Had a couple of Golf's playing silly whotsits at the lights and whilst you know you shouldn't it's just too tempting to match them for a moment and then punch it. Though last night a recovery truck tried it . He was a spec in the mirror in seconds, I don't know what he was expecting. Interesting about the SatNav being afraid of water. I took the Garmin unit out on the ferry to the Isle of Man to plot progress and see just how fast the ferry was (37mph).

Gordon, I think we need to organise a 'true' northern meet, if only to help you knock that mileage up!
