As I understand it, any policy that has an add-on which would be deemed as an insurance is there to be challenged.

With life cover, if 'waiver of premium' was added, you 'should' have received a report (if you took advice that is) detailing everything. I guess this is your get-out route so if you received this then how would you now reasonably complain. Obviously if you went direct to an insurance company the process might let be so stringent (when compared to what I have to do).

EASIEST way is simply contact your bank and ask them to investigate any PPI claims you are entitled to and they will do the rest!!

No messing about sending letters or getting third party vultures involved!!!

All banks are now equipped and expected to deal with such claims.

As already mentioned,... DO NOT USE A CLAIMS MANAGEMENT COMPANY. There is no need. All they will do is send a standard letter to the Financial Ombudsman Service on your behalf and take at least 25% of any proceeds. Follow the advice on MoneySavingExpert and do it yourself, they have template letters to follow. My daughter works for the FOS, and says you're likely to get a quicker turnaround by NOT using one of the claims management companies.

No contact the bank that u have claim with.

My work colleague rang the HSBC direct line for PPI claims and 8 weeks later had a cheque of nearly £5k. All he did was make one call!!

The legal limit is 8 weeks for the bank to get back to you with either offer of refund or explanation why you dont qualify
