How do I fix window rubber seal discoloration/rotting?
How did this happen? It blows my mind because the seals around the entire rest of the car are fine, including the door window seals a 1/4" away. It was like this when I bought the car so I have no idea how it happened. It's an 09'. I've been applying Meguiar's Vinyl/Rubber restore on it to protect it but it does nothing to rid that brownish color. Anyone have any advice on how to restore this?
Thank you |

Subscribing for answers. Some of my seals are starting to look like that too.

on the small area I would for sure try some of that tire shine thing, seams to work very well on tires (it seams like it takes off very small layer of rubber off since the cloth is always super black). Be gentle and try it on very small section first, see how it does over the time

Okay, well it appears that meguiars vinyl/rubber restore is helping after a few applications. That at least gets some of the color back. I haven't gotten around to trying any others out

I would give the trim a good clean with some APC and dress with the likes of CarPro DLUX.
You'll get at least 6 months durability

To me that just looks very dirty?
Try cleaning meth concentrated methylated spirits, and a rag. I use dodo juice superatural trim sealant that works extremely well albeit its very difficult to apply as its sticky like varnish and you need to mask around the trim (more of a professional product albeit it lasts for years) |

clean it up with an APC - Adam's APC or Sonax Multi Star and dress with 1Z einszett Gummi, or Sonax Plastic Trim Restorer.
