As if it wasn't apparent already, we are now effectively down to two major US auto manufacturers. Buh-bye Chrysler.

What a turn of events, going from an IPO filing to a total buyout!

Yep, I agree. Off subject: I'm a former NoVA resident, was there for about 20 years.

Wow, Fiat has balls. Eating from cadavers can make you seriously sick, especially when one is already weak.

it's called Strategy, Fiat would have taken longer to hit the shores if they had not bought Crysler few years ago (% of it). I am sure they got a sick deal to get in this market. They will use their European Channel to get Crysler out to Europe. The boss knows what he is doing. He's a sharp CEO for sure.

Very good thing, IMO. Marchionne picked that company up for a song and dance so I think it's a great deal and good for both companies.

More bailout money gone overseas. But only 3.6B for the remaining 41% of Chrysler is hard to argue with.

I thought all the bailout money had been repaid by all manufacturers already 2 years ago.

And you see it wrong, the bailout was to safeguard jobs. Milanese or Detroit based headquarters makes little difference in this respect.
