Superseded parts

So just recently my left rear lock actuator seems to have crapped out on me. It won't unlock for me using the fob or the door lock/unlock on the dash, but it'll lock just fine either way. Anyways, I decided to just replace it with a new part instead of fiddling around with the damned thing, but I have a question concerning the difference between "old" and new. The old part num. is 51227060295 but has been superseded with 51227202147. Now is the change just an inventory thing or has an improvement been made to the design or functionality of the original part? I can get 51227060295 for just a shade under $100 new, but 51227202147 is going for about $10-25 more. I figure if an improvement's been made to the part, yeah sure, I'll shell out a little bit more, but if there isn't a difference, then wtf? Anyways, if you guys could clue me in that'd be great. Drive like the wind mofo's!
