Can I use the factory wiring to the front door speakers for my components?

I finally bit the bullet and ordered an MS-8. Will get a harness from Technic when the backorder fills.

I'll probably get a pair of DLS RS5 components for the front door/sail panels. I'll power them with the MS-8. This is going into an 07 335/Logic 7.

Can I use the factory wiring to the front doors for this application?

Also, not yet having read the MS-8 manual, do I need to find 2 ohm speakers for the front doors, or can I use 4 ohm units with the remaining Logic 7 2 ohm speakers?

Thanks.

The OEM speaker wire is thick enough for aftermarket speakers and amps. Before you buy the DLS speakers, hook up the MS-8 and see if you still find the need to upgrade. Also, you should install a tweeter next to the center speaker for best result. The MS-8 works well with 2 ohm speakers and it will make a huge improvement as long as the factory speakers are of decent quality, which they are in the L7 system. If you go with aftermarket speakers, the overall volume level will drop as a result of the the difference in efficiency and impedance.

Thanks, I've read your extensive posts which are helpful. I am skeptical that the L7 speakers will satisfy me, but I see your point about listening first, as the front speaker replacement job is not the easiest. Certainly helps to be able to use the factory wiring.

So, to confirm, later adding a 4 ohm speaker will affect volume, but the MS-8 will be able to handle this?

Stock wiring for underseat woofers?

Thanks for the reinforcement, I'm gonna give the L7's a chance.

I am definitely replacing the underseats, SWS8's, I think. I'll drive them with an Xtant 403a amp that I have. I assume I want the 4 ohm model? I am thinking about the 2 ohm version only because I could use them with the stock amp/MS-8 until I do the amp install.

How about using the stock wiring for the replacement underseats?
