Gas goes up in Cali oil drops 10+ a barrel

Gas goes up in Cali oil drops 10+ a barrel WTF?
Anybody else notice this .
A barrel of oil went form 107 from to 95 as of today but
gas prices are on the rise in California and nationwide they
have only dropped and average of 5 cents.
Is it just the usual Summer gouging or something else.

I'm paying $4.39-$4.59 a gallon down here for premium. If I have to head in to LA I might pay over $5, but I try to avoid that.

They are trying to recoup the payout when BP had that disaster in the gulf. You didn't think that compensation came without a price did you?

My local off-brand station has come down from $4.14 to $3.89 for 93 AKI in the last 6 weeks.

Gas is about $3.89 a gallon for 93 here.

Filled up yesterday.

Its funny how when oil goes down it take a while for it to reflect at the pump but when it goes up we see it right away at the pump.

They make to much money on the spread.

How do you judge its nimbleness/quickness by seeing it?

It's complicated. You are looking at WTI spot price. Brent is much more of a global indicator in terms of futures pricing. Even then, there are so many variables to the price of gasoline it will make our head spin. I won't even go into it, you can use the internet to get a better idea.

Three refineries in Ca. are closed for "maintenance".
This has sent the price soaring in the last week.

there are also 5 or 6 on the east coast that are closed for maintenance. We SHOULD be around $3.89 here in SoCal, but with supply lines being cut, the way they are, we're feeling it in our wallets...a-holes. They do this on purpose. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I think they got used to making a huge margin on fuel, and don't want to go back

It's very simpleeconomics when you look at a graph of oil vs. gas prices:

When oil prices go up, gas prices go up.
When oil prices go down, gas prices go up.

Questions?
