Cobb AP: Which Stage 1 map to install?

Hey,

Finally got some time to install the Cobb AP on my 07' 335i coupe. I'm a total newb about all this. I'm not sure which Stage 1 map to install. My car is stock, so I'm pretty sure most of the maps I can't install..I don't want to install an incorrect map, and eff up my car. I just want to add some HP/TQ. I have no idea what the difference between AGGRESSIVE Maps and the I8AOS Maps are.

Use the Stock Throttle Setup -- Start with Stage 1 Sport, if the car runs smoothly (clean data logs, no shuttering, misfires) and you have access to 93 octane, you can then run Aggressive.

All Stock 1 Maps are designed for completely stock applications, but it is recommended that you at least upgrade your drop-in filter to a K&N

The linear maps are marked as LT. The stock maps aren't labeled IIRC

In order to run aggressive I recommend you log the car to be sure the 93 you're using is good enough

^I already have 93 octane in my car, will that be an issue if I use a LT map?

No, LT(linear) and ST(stock) only refer to the throttle mapping. The tunes are exactly the same except for how the throttle responds.

All aggressive maps need 93, sport need 91 and Drive is for ACN fuels.

The circled part is the reference to the Linear Throttle Mapping

B/c that Stg 1 Aggressive Map is highlighted, it gives you more info (Version v301 Map, Linear Throttle Mapping).

It sounds like you have no idea what maps are on your AccessPORT. I recommend that you use your AP Manager and delete EVERYTHING & start fresh. Then go to the OTS Maps for I8AOS:
http://www.cobbtuning.com/AccessPORT...maps/bmw/I8A0S

Then download the 3 different maps (Drive, Sport + Aggressive) with the Stock Throttle Mapping.

Stock Throttle is a replica of the Stock Throttle setup -- Boost will build up immediately. Linear Throttle is more "track map" since the amount of pressure placed on the throttle translates to how much power is returned (25% throttle pushed in = 25% power. 75% throttle = 75% power).

Some people just aren't angry. But in all honesty he should read as much as he can otherwise he may use the stage 2 aggressive map and...oh there's limp mode. But the manual doesn't say anything about individual maps either.

It's not exactly difficult to operate. In fact I'd argue that everything needed for the OP to figure out the answer to his own question is contained in the display. Each map has a description of what it is and when to use it.

+1, completely agree that before anybody tunes their car, that they learn everything they can about the N54 (identifying/diagnosing misfires), their tune (which map can they run) and how to make sure they don't over work the car (not knowing how to utilize/run meth, running a map that's too aggressive for the car).

The forums are here as a support, you shouldn't be dependent or expect get a "Tuning 101" manual from here

This is 100% true -- Just don't need another forum user blaming the tune when they're running the wrong map. Somebody was complaining they burnt out their turbos w/ the COBB, they were running Stage 2 maps with the OEM DPs still in
