Hey guys - does this look right? The angle of each cone is off because of the OEM intake inlets. Plus each cone is touching each other at the tips.

stuff the coupling pipes deeper into the inlet tubes even compressing them as much as possible. that should separate the cones more if it bothers you

it might help to take the cabin filter cover and cowl etc off to get it deeper

Thanks guys, just needed some reassurance. All the pics I've seen have them seperated more but I don't see how with the OEM inlet points being where they are. It runs just fine.

Vishnu DCI

My vishnu does not touch each other. Small gap in between, but they should not touch. Did you take off the cowl/battery cable so that you could get in there and stuff the couplers all the way in? The rear one it the hard one, you need to twist as you insert it for it to become fully inserted (it will feel like it's inserted but isn't). I would not leave it like you have it.

I have the Vishnu DCI as well. The install is less straightforward than it would seem. The depth at which you have the adapter into the filter itself affects the distance the filters are apart. (Even with the “push and twist” fun that goes with getting the rear filter fully seated.)

I just wrapped up round one for mine last night. They were touching, but I readjusted the adapter depth into the filters (further in) and that improved the fit.

It's still not perfect though--the rear is set too far back when fully inserted and the angle of the rubber on the filter hits one of the stock airbox links (little plastic pillar). That makes the filter really tight against the battery cables and battery cable holder—with some pressure from the holder on the filter. Not good—I don’t want any tension on those cables. I'm going to try less depth on the adapter into filter in the rear and more on the front.

If I get a clean looking and safer fit I’ll post the adapter-into-filter insert depth that seems to work best. I can’t work on it until this weekend though. If anyone else has gone to the trouble of logging the adapter-to-filter insert depth and can post it, that would be great.

Much better. I played with the rear coupler and pushed that puppy almost as far as it will go - LOTS of trouble and resistance from the interior of the OEM tube but nice, clean and tight when done.

I got the rear cone to go as back as one of the airbox mounting posts prevents it any further. I also moved the rubber grommets down a bit on their respective wire covers to get them out of the way.

Here's another shot to show how much I got Shiv's coupler to go into the OEM hose (red lines). The yellow arrow shows the air box mount post that prevents the cone from going any deeper. I know, I know - I have to clean my engine! Don't tell the guys over on the detail forum, it'll ruin my rep.

That looks good! I see where I missed the boat on the rear filter. The photos really help. I'll reposition things tonight (if I'm lucky and have time) or over the weekend. Thanks for posting - this was helpful.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this seems pretty related to my question. I installed my Vishnu DCI yesterday and it went pretty smoothly except I couldn't figure out a good way to get the battery cables/tubing out of the way. Specifically, one of the cables is touching the filter itself (not a lot of pressure, but holding the filter up slightly), and some of the other tubes are touching around the base area of the filter.

Does this look alright? Should the tubes not be touching any part of the filter, or is that even possible? In the Vishnu paperwork that came with the DCI, it says to make sure "the circular clamps are not in contact with any part of the engine", so I'm not sure if that's related as well.
