Question to the 100k Owners... have you had any problems or noticeable loss in performance????

I came across a thread on a separate forum and one guy said his DISA was shot at 100K... he even recommended replacing it at 80k.

Another thread I came across on here a while ago was guy reporting that he had ovalization issues and the engine required a rebuild...

I want to understand more about my N52... I came from a 3.0 TFSI mapped audi... and while I missed the turbo for a year and thought I could never have a car without one... I absolutely adore my N52 no matter what anyone says... it is a strong engine and an improvement to its predecessor... I don't have any love for the N53/54 etc. even having driven them they are just not the same as my straight six...

I have an N52MB20 (I think), It's the 325i non DISA manifold. 254,000 miles as of today, basically with 17,000 mile oil changes. Runs pretty much as new. Uses a quart of oil about every 7,000 miles, but I have a seeping oil pan gasket and weeping rear main crank seal. The thing's a horse. And I beat on it pretty good. Plugs every 100K.

I need a brake pad sensor. The damn light wont reset. Is there any way to code that thing off there or put a dummy sensor on? I take great care of my car and dont need an idiot light for pads.
Mine has track pads on it so the sensors could not be used so the other owner just connected the 2 wires together to bypass the sensors. No light or anything.

Just about 148,000 on mine... the only time I notice a loss of power (and it may be in my head) is around the end of a 25 min session on the track, in warm weather, especially in the uphill section in 3rd gear where the engine is only turning 4,000 or so.... not quite to the power band. I like to think catless, or high flow catted manifolds would wake it up a bit, but it's not really a priority for me right now.

No noticeable difference for me. I'm at 112k currently. I also have an M54B25 X3, and let me tell you, that thing - while it was never fast - lost some pep over the years.

I would argue the N52 has actually felt smoother so far *knock on wood*

Only mods are Charcoal Filter delete and K&N Filter.

My maintenance:
Oil Changed every 7500 miles since it was a newborn. Transmission fluid (filter changed at 100k) changed every 50k miles. Diff fluid, Brake fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid changed every 40k miles. Just put a new battery in about 2 weeks ago.

94K miles on 2008 E90 328i 6MT.

Runs and drives like new, actually better since I ditched the run-flats.

Fixed valve ticking problem under warranty. Nothing else. Great car.

Just did first brake job, tranny/diff oils, water pump, T-stat and plugs.

Ever rebuilt the VANOS per Besian? Stock components do wear out over time, and definitely sap power/low end torque when they do.

I have not because my symptoms didnt seem to align with the ones of cars severely affected by the OEM seals, but it sounds like I should definitely look into it. I have noticed it needing to stay higher in the RPMs to have adequate passing power.

Thanks for the tip!

edit: just to avoid causing confusion for those that may read my post, this post is about M54 maintenance. NOT N52
