I've booked my remap

Well I have taken the plunge and booked the remap of my e92 320d. I have heard such good reports about e-maps im booked in and looking forward to the improvements.

Anyone else had their 320 done and did this make a big difference?

You will notice a very significant improvement. Turns a slow car into a quite surprisingly quick one

I also had my cats removed on my old 320d (straight through) and the combination of a good map tailored to the exhaust change made it quite exceptional. Although it did erm; produce just a small amount of smoke .. Being non DPF ..

Like night and day, have you/will you be doing anything else? If you were considering decat etc, it would be good to do those then map the car, so it knows how to run properly Let us know how it goes!

Got my 320d remapped after a week now running 232bhp though the real power doesn't come in until after 3k rpm which took me a while to get used to.

This is a) Not true and b) Impossible

The power is all between 1750 and 3500 rpm and the HIGHEST I've seen a 320d go on a reputably RR is 220 bhp.
I'd expect the power to be less at 3k+ than at 2200+ for example? But to be honest could concede this part as I can't fully remember any more what my 320 was like ..

With all due respect / no offence meant; this means one or many of the following is true:

You're exaggerating, greatly
The remap company you used are liars
The remap company has no idea how to use their rolling road
You haven't really had a remap.
Something very very strange has been done to your ecu air tables to make the turbo behave in this way.

Not sure which.

Out of interest what sort of increase have you had in insurance premiums after having the map declared?

I don't think you could get anything over 220bhp from the 2.0d engine if you don't mind me asking where did you get your car remapped from. Also how much did you pay if u don't mind me asking

Dave that is where maximum torque will be. 220HP should be at approx 4k in the 320d.

After my remap I noticed the car kept pulling above 3k rpm whereas before it would run out of power. This would also be backed up by the fact I've lost traction several times while accelerating in 3rd with the foot to the floor when the revs have crept over 3k.

Edited my post slightly as the powerband response evidently is a bit out. I can't really remember. The numbers (232 !! ) are still ridiculous though ..

232 is the highest I've heard, my dyno readout shows 221hp and I think that may be a little optimistic.

I had 208 and 212 by two respected rolling road companies. That was on a 164. I've been told the 177s can go a little higher but by little I read maybe as high as 230..

Not seen a proper map of one due to the cost (locked OBD port for mapping) only piggyback boxes which are designed for the 177.

So similar to the 177 in my experience but I imagine there's a good tuning possibility from one done properly IE ECU out and tailored...

Trust me I'm the guy driving the car there is power low down the revs it just pulls a hell of a lot harder after 3k revs, in reference to the remap it was done by a company that's been at it for over 10yrs now. They are 1 of the best in the country. This was the latest software used at the time and just inside the limits of wot the clutch & flywheel will take

Coming from a 140BHP mondeo I wouldn't call it slow! Simon info is from 177bhp up to 212bhp and the torque from 350nm up to 425nm. I'll be sure to let you know after the work is done
