My advice? Don't bother with a BMW. Very over rated and if your best mate isn't a BMW expert,be prepared to have deep pockets.. Had a Honda Civic EX before this and really miss it, . Can't wait to get rid of mine but i have to get a valve sensor on it and valve servo motor. Been told the bill will be around the $1500 mark. Every time that engine management light comes on it's gonna drain your bank, and trust me ,they come on a lot

I have a Silver 07 e90 328xi. I would suggest 330i with 18" rims and I-drive. It will look cool rides rear wheel so more comfy I suppose. I love my car and below is the pic

Mine's at 58k miles and zero problems so far. Still has the original hpfp. As far as people complaining about this cars reliability: You will hear 100% of the complaints and nothing good because no one starts a thread here that says: car started today and drove with no problems.

34k, HPFP, Injectors, Nav head unit, transmission leak, Turbos, Turbo actuators, tail lights, and about 3 or 4 trips to the dealer for small stuff I cant remember. Extended Platimum Warranty has keep my total out of pocket cost to 100.00. In April 2014 I'll get a new one. I wont own a BMW out of warranty for anything.
I personally would not buy a used 335, many of the early cars are beat and badly modified IMO.

Even so you can't compare a civic with a bmw. Lol. Civic is cheaper for a reason. As far as reliability goes- i have a 335 and @ 58k still 0 problems. (knock on wood)

I thought that until I bought this. Mine's not a nice 335 like yours, just 318i SE.And the new price of this and the top spec Civic and pretty much the same. Anyway, hope you get many more trouble free miles out of it.

Yeah man, idk... I've never driven a 318 but I would think the interior is the same. Which is already a lot better than what the civic has to offer.

I know this is an old thread, but to anyone considering a BMW for the first time; if the above quote (from the OP) is your attitude about owning a BMW, then don't buy one. BMWs break and are expensive to maintain. If you can DIY, have a good set of tools, and are an experienced home mechanic, then ownership will not be all that tramatic for you. If you will use a shop to do the maintenance and repairs, and you are not mentally and fiscally prepared for the charges, stay away from BMW, and buy a Honda.

Can't agree with that,I prefer the old interior of the 3 series, how the dash sort of fits around the driver, think it's pretty basic now. Yet the Civic's interior is superb. Ever get the chance, have a look inside at the EX model, I'm sure you'll be impressed (06 Onwards)

What do you guys think of the 328I 07-09 as i am leaning more towards that car as i went to the dealer yesterday and the cost to replace turbos, just the part alone is 3000 each, this is just stupid, im not even driving a Ferrari.
So an 07 328i coupe, with about 100 -120 km, what do you guys think will come up as far as parts to change, and how much would it cost approximately? |

I agree, a job at Jiffy Lube won't begin to cover repair costs. |

A 335i would be a completely different experience from a 325 or a 328. If I were you, I would go for a newer 328i (LCI) if performance isn't really a concern for you and want a more sturdy naturally aspirated engine.
You get a good deal on an 09 328i, perhaps around the price of a pre-LCI 335i. Although in my own opinion, I would still buy a 335i anyday. Lastly, just because you are buying a 328, do not NOT buy warranty. There are many things that can and will go wrong in the long run. It is just a matter of time.

But still, not really comparable cars to a BMW, though inevitable much cheaper to run. And also don't forget, we don't get the cheaper lesser equipped BMWs here that are more comparable to loaded economy cars. Very different market.

And that is what people on this forum and others that have a passion for their BMWs or cars in general are willing to sacrifice. If you feel that it is worth it, you wont feel that your money has gone to waste at all.
