Had these tires for one season and they are hands down the worst tire I've ever had. They make the car feel floaty and have very soft sidewalls. They can't hold a line for shit. Classic case of 'you get what you pay for'. I should have known better, these tires are such a compromise.I won't ever cheap it on rubber again after this ... Hope I saved you some money.

18 or 19?
i personally (and this is my opinion) dont understand why people spend alot for the wheels and little for the tires.... tires are what connect you to the road.... the sumitomo HTRZIII beat out the potenza RE050A and the conti contisportcontact3 in a recent tire rack test. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...L%26i1_Qty%3D2 not quite as cheap as the generals, a set of 235/35/19 -275/30/19 runs about 776 before shipping versus 612 before shipping for the generals. they did beat out the contis, which go for 1100 a set

Best tire for the money is probably Falken 452's.. better then gens, but not as sticky as some more expensive brands

The ratings are skewed. Most people who rated this tire well have an 'easy going' or 'average' driving style. They also have econo or family type vehicles. Reviewers with higher performing cars and 'spirited' driving style have nothing good to say. The tires are good for the money if you don't demand much from your car. If a tire (like this one) is holding the car back well ahead of it's limit in the turns then it's clearly not up to par for the vehicle. Just my 2cents |

they're slightly better than the all season tires used on the E46, the goodyear RSAs, so i would say they are on par with the turanzas, or any other OE all season tire... the potenzas blow them out of the water however.... they just dont compete at the same level.... the generals have a M&S rating because of the amount of void in their tread, an attribute thats counter to high levels of dry and wet grip... less rubber on the road. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...irePageLocQty=

I have the Generals and have been pretty happy with them. Granted I don't go auto x'ing but for everyday use and then some spirited driving mixed in there the best bang for the buck for sure. Hell I like them better than the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 I had on my other car. Just depends on what your going for I would say. I have my Iforged Daytonas and I'm not going to go beating on my car with those rims on. So the Generals are just fine for me. Now if your going to go for more of a track car your going to need to pay the money for the tire that's going to get you the results you want. There's just no way around it...

They're great tires for the street. Good tires to learn to autocross on to learn car control. Good for HPDE events, just to start learning, before you upgrade to better tires. I had them on my 19" rims before I sold them... they were much more comfortable than the 18" runflats. NIce, economical and comfortable moderate performance tires. Thumbs up!

The ride is more comfortable. But for grip and steering response compared to the stock bridgestone runflats they are terrible. You are going from a tire with a very hard sidewall to a tire with one of the softest you can find. When pushing the car through turns the side wall flexes back and forth creating a very sketchy cornering experience. They squeal like a stuck pig and take away the tight crisp feel your car offers. Enjoy.

I have had my Generals since last May and they work perfectly fine for me. For everyday driving in my opinion they are very good tires. Everything that has been said above about the tires being terrible and the car not holding the line, being floaty, etc..., that does not apply to everyday driving unless you're a speed demon taking turns at 60mph, etc..
I was hesitant to buy these tires, but then I realized that I wouldn't be taking these tires to the track, so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of other performance tires that will cost you up towards 1K. It's not like Generals are the worst and cheapest tires out there. I'd recommend Generals if you're doing mostly everyday driving. Bang for the buck imo. Hope this helps |

I've been happy with mine for street use. Much better than the stock rfs. Better treadwear than almost any other 19" tire out there. PLUS, since they are M+S rated and I don't put on winter tires, I feel that I can drive them in the cold weather without then rubber compound turning into the consistency of a hockey puck. I can also drive in VERY light snow, but because I have 2 other AWD cars, I don't have to take the car out in snowy weather. Last winter there was almost no snow in my area so I cannot attest to how they might work in snow. I would believe they would be better than summer tires but not by much. I would not rely on them to go in the snow.
