I hate runflat tires

6,000 miles, and 3 of my stock tires need to be replaced. They all have big bursting bubbles on them. The tires cost about $460 to buy/install. I'm practically paying $1400 extra in tires for NO reason!

What do you guys think I should do? Invest in wheels and replace the dumb runflats with the regular, cheaper, and more reliable tires?

Have people had this same problem? Ugh...

The enemy: Bridgestone Porteza RE050 Run Flat tires.

btw: I don't drift, I always check pressure, and don't hit pot holes.

just replaced my left rear RFT four hours ago... $380 including tax and install at tire pros...

just to put that in perspective, i had a talk with a ZO6 owner there replacing one of his high performance RFT's for over $600. that's unreal!

Do a quick search and you'll find you're not alone.

My first 3k miles, I bubbled and replaced 3 tires. I have tire/wheel insurance, but it was still a major pain having to go through the process of filing claims, getting the tires replaces and so on EVERY FEW WEEKS!. On top of that, the ride was notoriously harsh and jarring (NJ/NYC roads aren't the greatest) and tramlining with the bridgestone RFTs is horrible.

After the third busted RFT in less than 2.5 months, I swapped out the RFTs with Toyo Proxes T1Rs and could not be happier. The ride is more compliant, no more tramlining, grip around corners seems improved and I don't feel like the world is coming to an end when I hit mild potholes.

I say take the plunge and get a decent set of nice non-RFTs. Just make sure you pick up the BMW Mobility Kit or the Conti Comfort Kit just so you're not stuck with a flat wishing you HAD your RFTs back on!

Just my 2 pesos.

But I have EasyCare tire and wheel insurance.
The best investment I have ever made.
This is a must have.

The tire is flat, so?

55 mph ... all week long ... no rush ... Saturday is fine.

I have a bubble in my left front tire and I am not buying another one, I am getting rid of my RF's. Before I bought my car, I test drove a pre-owned e90 with Toyo Proxes T1R's, the handling, the ride and control was dramatically improved over the RF. Non-RFT + Mobility Kit = One great ride!

I have some I will sell you. 4k miles on 3 of them and 1 255x35 rear brand new with sticker still on the tire.

Replaced Bridgestone RFTs on my 330i w/ Sport with Bridgestone RE-050A Pole Positions. I should've done it 40K miles ago......it's like a different car!
Quiet, no tramlining and no high-speed twitchiness.

Yes, but doesn't that mean that you must replace them with the same crappy OE Bridgestones? I really don't mind RFTs...the peace of mind is nice to have, but there are better RFTs out there, especially the Michelin Pilot Sports...reportedly better wear, and much quieter...

I ditched the RFT's for Eagle F1's also... Ride's great and, let's face it, if you don't run the tread down to the wear indicators or ride under-inflated, when will you ever have a blowout?? I put a 12V air pump and a can of fix-a-flat in the spare tire hole for more typical, slow leak situations.
