Lost Video

As a few of you know, I have a video camera in the front bumper of my car. It had some good footage (?) of at least seven laps of Nürburgring in September as well as the UK8 drive over Wrynose and Hardnott Passes. I finally got the software installed on a new laptop computer and went to download the files this morning. The computer said there was nothing on the recorder. Surely that can't be right! I've seen a review of the files; Ed and Matt have seen some of it. Tried reloading the software but it still says there's nothing there. So, I connected the display monitor and used the OBD to view the files. Alas, the computer isn't lying. I have lost all of my recordings from Germany and the Lake District. Tomorrow I'm going to see if it will record anything again and whether the computer can download. I'm very disappointed since I'm not going to have another chance for Nürburgring footage -- at least not with this car.

What sort of a device is it? I wouldn't record anything else if I was you just yet because if it stored the information on a USB flash device or similar you can try some restoration software and recover the missing files.

Even if theres been a reformat for some reason you should still be able to get the files back as long as they've not been overwritten with new information.
