From Stage 3 to Stock To M3
So as many of you have seen in the FS section i decided to part out my car. I had every mod available and tried many diff stuff. My car had coilovers, m3 links and bushing, h&r sway bars, stoptech front and read BBK, Proceed with Meth, LSD, AR catless downpipes, magnaflow exhaust, UR intake, ER charge pipe with Tial BOV, custom IC and other things. The car was fast, has been reliable ( still on stock HPFP ) and still running stock clutch.
Well this past week it all went back to stock. I have been driving it while my M3 comes in. Things i noticed or miss. To start, PROCEED!!! best thing for the car. Absolutely. The car lacks power everywhere. Second i would say i miss the breaks. The M3 steering wheel, wow what a diff, makes the car feel so much better than it is. Did i mention i miss the PROCEED? So i go take some familiar onramps and completely notice the lack of the LSD. When i first put the LSD it was a noticeable feeling but nothing crazy. Now taking turns without it is like eating tofu after having real chicken. The suspension im rolling on are stock shocks with eibach springs so it is a little lowered. Rides ok but no where near as good as the coilovers. Now getting into the M3, It really is a whole different animal. The car feel so well planted, the DCT is amazing, the suspension is just right, the chasis feels stiffer and it pulls hard. Maybe im still in the omg its fast because the DCT feels crazy but i dont miss the 335, not yet anyway. I will report more as i get more used to it.

TMR-- I hear you on the M3's suspension. I've been slowly upgrading the suspension of my 335 with M3 components (tension rods, upper links and guide rods). Tomorrow is the last step (rear subframe bushings). If I can get that same "feel", i'll be thrilled

So small update... Did i mention i LOVE the DCT!!! I have to admit, i like the M3 alot but i really wiah i could buy an M3 with the N54. The M3 is so much louder than my fully catless 335i. on the FWY, 60MPH and you want to pass someone and accelerate to 80. The M3 is fast but it makes all this noise ( the V8 does sound SO good ) My 335 was quiet, give it gas and it accelerated faster than the M3. I guess since i have always owned turbo cars i like the feel of boost. Again tho, dont get me wrong, the M3 is a monster.
I also raced my cousins PROCEED powered N55 135i with DCT. All he has is the N55 Proceed, running race gas and a magnaflow catback system. From a light, he had me by 1 car till 80. I thought there was a launch control for the DCT but i cant seem to find any info on here on how to do it. On the roll from 80-130 i pulled him by 3 cars. I cant post pics of a stock M3, wait till it gets lowered, then i will post pics :-D

Drove a 2011 M3 back to back with a 135 with M Sport Package. I hate to admit it.... Im hooked on boost. The M 3 had a track presence about it. Very still and I was in town on the highway. There was no 80-130 pulls and I think i had the Sport button off?? Not sure if it made a difference. In the 42K 1 and the 70K M3....I just couldn't find 28K worth of car there. Not nocking your new car man. Until I drove it... I was sure that it would prob be my next car. I never really considered a 135 until I drove it. I am in an e90 now and so looking for something a little tighter. Drove a 328 the other day, 6 speed sport and I had that 3.0 NA doing all it could. Sounds weird but I like the feel of the NA stick better than a boosted stick but I am hooked on the AT steptronic. I drove a 335i coupe, 335d (very refined, sounds great too) and z 4.
Ill have to give the M3 another go, this time find some place to flex the springs!

Well i have the opportunity to drive both. My cousin bought a N55 135i fully loaded with Msport and DCT. Now that the proceed is on it and the exhaust it really is an awesome car. He is out of the country for 2 months so ive been driving it. Its also faster in most situations on the street. But when you jump in the M3, There is just something about this car that is hard to explain. Either way both are great cars. I still say i miss my modded N54.

glad to hear that with the correct mods the gap between the 335 and M3 can be narrowed significantly performance wise - especially since I've essentially got the same mods you listed.
