Who Currently Has the largest FMIC?

For the upcoming Motiv-900 Build this summer?

Been out of the N54 Seen for a few years. Back in the day "STETT" was all the rage.

HPF = 815 cu in
STETT = 620 cu in

$ for $ the VRSF 7" is not a bad deal. Its looks like the HPF for half the cost. If you're spraying meth, the VRSF might be worth looking at.

I have the HPF and it works well, but did notice a 1 psi pressure drop.

Our FMIC is 819 cubic inches and we use a larger inlet/outlet than the HPF which helps eliminate a lot of the back pressure/pressure drop across the core

VRSF FTW. Used one on my last ST. (664whp). Even without meth it was very impressive. Fastgti has one on his 700whp machine. I bought another one for my next ST build.

I love my cxracing fmic Kit. Honestly the biggest ffmic I have seen on a 335. Two other guys locally have the same kit.

Just because it's the largest physically doesn't mean it's the best...

Other things to take into consideration is pressure drop, IAT, core volume, ambient face, end tanks design, and charge rows. Just my opinion.

I have a CxRacing as well and have been nothing but impressed the whole time I've had it in! I custom built my hot and cold side piping though. Didn't feel like paying for the kit when they sell all the plumbing on their own site cheaper!!! lol

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the performance of the cx. I ran a 4" thick core and had great results with temp control even with the ST. However when I swapped out for a vrsf IC to conserve some space for my oil cooler set up I couldn't have been happier. The vrsf keeps temps in control but the overall lag of the single turbo was way more responsive. That's why I went back to the vrsf for the next ST build on my new car. It was a night and day difference.

OP none of the current intercoolers on the market are appropriately sized for flow of any big turbo kit past 550-600whp. Part of the problem is size constraints in the opening of the front bumper and the front crash bar being in the way. Also keep in mind that outside the design of the end tanks and quality of the core it is the frontal area that is key, not depth. Going too deep for a given airflow path may actually make the core inefficient. Too often people will swap intercoolers just because on paper one is thicker or bigger in volume than their current only to get nothing out of it. As with anything there is a balance and sizing in accordance with power levels. Unfortunately without cutting the front 5mph crash bar there is no chance to fit the "right" intercooler on this car for any single turbo kit.

I have the ER FMIC which is available with a carbon fiber shroud that directs the air right onto the face of the intercooler. Also the ER core is absolutely top notch.

Yes the ER is one of the most expensive FMICs out there but you get what you pay for.

I was waiting for someone to mention ER...they are excellent especially the dual SMIC's I had on my B5 S4.
