If you have trouble getting all the software together and configured you can purchase the whole package including the cable as I did from BMTECHNIC, I got several versions of inpa/ediabas software, I paid around $70.

Yeah so far, I haven't had a chance to drive it much, but it's definitely an improvement over stock.
My car used to do the thing where it jerks forward after being stopped at a light whilst the car is cold, and the flash appears to have fixed that, but its only been a day so we'll see if it stays that way. |

I got mine done at Active Motorwerke in Burwood (highly recommend them). I got the flash done as part of a bundled deal with some other work that i needed done so i cant say exactly how much it was. But if you go back through the pages and look for Jin he should be able to give you a quote.

To answer my own question if anyone else is having the same issue. I flashed the Alpina software over the weekend and now it seems with the newer software, the NIC has been disabled which is good as it got really annoying. |

Hi all,
Just wondering how have all of you been finding the flash? I tried the Alpina flash for a month, and I absolutely hate D mode, the constant changing of gears, while its good for fuel economy, when you go ~50% throttle its just jerking (albeit slightly) as it rows through the gear quickly. M mode is awesome i'll admit, but i'm in stop/go traffic most of the day, so I dont get much of a chance to use it. |

The Alpina flash was meant to be for a tuned 400bhp N54 engine and I love it, I drive 100% in manual mode using the paddles as it should be, my wife drives in D mode, if you drive a 400bhp car around in D mode all the time, its not very good, its the old mans lazy mode, That's why they put paddles and manual mode for to enjoy ones driving.
If you flashed the auto and drive all the time in D mode, its not the flash for you, leave it stock.

But then I did the BMS backend flash. The driveability is transformed. I believe the differences are changes to Torque request % tables. D is now great for cruising around the city. Changes up at 2-2.5k if taking it easy (was 1.5k) and will happily rev out if you squeeze the pedal to say 50%. So i'm leaving the alpina flash in, as im much happier with it now. |

I just switched from 7615835 (The Alpina flash that people have used for the past few years) to 7603537 (An earlier Alpina flash file that has been discovered by others recently) and D mode is much better. Shifts a little higher in RPM at low load and shifts firmer and faster in D mode. I haven't noticed a difference to the other Alpina flash in S or M modes.
