Thanks for your feedback.

I wish my experience was similar to yours.

I'm certain there's nothing wrong with the installation.

As for height, I'm at the recommended ride height settings, which is more than 1" from full-low in the front.

I was about 3/4" lower before and the ride feel was the same.

I guess as long as I have these coilovers, I'll have to live with it.

I've had the endlink measured and was told I need 13.5", that would correspond to the part number TSU9912115.
I then called Turner, however, they are saying that these adjustable endlinks are not for Xdrive cars due to different geometry.
I'm now completely confused as it appears you were able to use them on your xdrive.
Another thing, perhaps a stupid question, if what's being measured is the endlink itself (which has a fixed length), how is it that your measurement ended up being shorter on the same car?

Don't know my friend, I'm not all that mechanically inclined - I leave this stuff to the pros. I think the measurement is done center-to-center, from where the endlink connects at both ends. The bottom connecting point is changed based on how much the car is lowered, hence why the measurement has done be done with the suspension loaded / car on the ground. That's as much as I know!

That shouldn't be considered too low.

I'm meeting up with someone locally next week who is lower than that, running on KW V3s and he says it's superb. Can't wait to see how it rides.

Are these Sonic Tuning coilovers supposed to be valved just like the KWs? But different spring rates? Can anyone confirm?

I would really like to consider these because of the price but seems like the galvanized isn't a great option being in NY. But aren't H&R Coilovers the same? I had them on my 996TT and they were great. There are so many conflicting reviews on here its hard to make a choice.

All I can say is that I have them on my car for about a month now and I absolutely hate them. I've tried everything to get rid of the bounciness. I tried the recommended height 25 1/2 F & 25 1/4 R and Damping Front: 5 | Rear: 8 setting and everythig in between. Right now I'm sitting at 25 F & 25 1/2 R to get rid of the rake nothing work so far I even got rid of the run flat tires. I how have brand new Continental ExtremeContact Dws all the way around 225/40 ZR 18 front and 255/35 ZR 18 rear great tires it helps a lot and perform amazing. But these coilover are just not working correctly it's either too hard or too soft make my Bimmer ride like a damn old Cadillac. I did not find out about the bounciness issue until after I had them install. I heard about the noise issue but I don't have that problem at least not yet

I've put almost a full year in on mine. I had the original fronts then sent in to Sonic Tuning to have them change my fronts to the shorter ones and adjust the settings. I currently have Continental DW tires on my car and at the height I'm set at it's only marginally stiffer than stock. I also haven't noticed much if any bounciness more than riding with my old run flats. I've never ridden in V1 or V3 to compare against, but for the price I have no complaints.

This comment has me wondering if you're confusing ST to Sonic Tuning. ST is Suspension Techniques which is made by KW and of much better quality in compared to what I've heard and read about the Sonic Tuning coilovers. The only drawback to the ST coils is that they are made out of galvanized steel, but I can say that a friend on mine runs these on his Golf R and after 2 winters they still look like new and the threads show no signs of corrosion.

I now have had my springs on for over a year and I have to say I am fully satisfied. Now I'm not sure if they have changed the complete set-up (besides the shorter springs in the front) but mine were the original blue and yellow color S3s.

Here's a pic of my E91xi with them - it sounds like many are having issues, so I'll consider myself one of the lucky ones? Not bouncy, stiff - yet comfortable for a daily and I'm set in the middle (5 I believe) on both the front and rear for dampening. Lots of room to come down in the rear if I wanted, but the fronts are pretty much maxed out.

You're right, I didn't realize till a bit after that post that they are completely different things. Thanks for the info on your buddy's car. Definitely positive.

I just asked him again about his ST coils and he completely stands behind them. In terms of winter maintenance, he mentioned that he has the undercarriage washed (by one of those touchless car washes) once a week.

If you're really worried about winter, you could always coat the struts with grease.

I have been thinking. What is the safest drop an XI can run without warping/damaging the front axles?

Just wanted a heads up before I pull the trigger on different coilovers, these have been pretty good regardless of a few mishap installations?

I've been driving on a set of sonic tuning coilovers for about a year and think they're great for daily driving. I made the mistake of adjusting them intuitively as I would any other set of coilovers and resulting rough/choppy rebound from the suspension.

I watches a few clips on youtube for similar style coils and adjustments. For height adjustment, the threaded tubing of the shock actually turns into the outer housing. The upper adjustment where you'd logically think to adjust the height actually adjusts the spring pre-load. Struts are on the softest in the front and back. I wish the front could be softer - similar to OEM sport suspension but the car feels stable and rolling is significantly reduced.

Most importantly, I can barely finger my wheel gap which in my book is tight.

That looks great! Thanks for the answer.

Are you on the lowest settings or does it go lower than that still?
