Help! Red exclamation mark on OBC!

Driving to work this morning and a red exclamation mark (like an exclamation mark in a beaker?) has appeared on the OBC! When I stopped and went to the 'control check' to look at the oil levels etc, it just displays that same symbol!

I don't have the cars manual with me, so anyone know what this means? Guessing it's a 'go to the garage and find out' job, but anyone got any ideas?

Pete - like this? (top one, 2nd column)

That's the tyre pressure warning system if it's that one. Check tyre pressures and reset it. You either have a flat or the cold has dropped your pressures enough to set off the TPMS.

CHeers, yeah thats the one. Looks like a flat tyre then.

This would sort of make sense as I got a tyre replaced last week ...

I'll have to get down to garage and check the pressures at lunchtime. At least it's nothing more serious I suppose!

Did you reset the TPMS (RDC) after the tyre change? If not, once the pressures are adjusted don't forget to do so.

Doesnt the BMW system use the rolling radius to measure inflation?

I take it that is why you have to reset the thingymajig?

Except if you have prologi7i-drive TPMS - this uses a series of sensors mounted in the tyres and allows you to monitor the pressure of your tyres remotely via mobile phone. Should the tyres fail, it reorders a set automatically and has them delivered and fitted by specialist tyre robots.

It's a must have item that's essential for re-selling the car...

I've not reset anything, I'm going to check the pressures at lunchtime - what do I then need to reset?

Pete - it's best to reset the TPMS after any change in pressure, even if it's just setting them to the "correct" one.

It soon becomes a habit but very easy to forget for the first few times.

Are you okay resetting it? It's very straightforward but you need to know the procedure.

Turn the engine on but don't put it into gear (is yours auto too? Can't remember!), toggle the OBC rocker switch (back of LH stalk) until you get that tyre sign. Push the end buttom (end of stalk) in once quickly to select it then hold it in immediately afterwards for around 3 seconds - once you see a "tick" next to the tyre sign, you are set. Drive off and the car does the rest.

TMS - I did a quick Google and that came up from another website. The link was http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...1&d=1161057042

Will see if I can find the whole manual...
