Your Experience? Lowering Springs on Stock Shocks/Struts
Hi,
I know there are quite a few threads about people who have lowered cars using H&R or Eibach Pro or some other springs but did not replace Stock Shocks/Struts. I always see threads regarding a review when they lower the car and how much better the ride is but I don't see any information on the experience down the lane. I also see quite a few discussions on how much quicker the stock shocks will blow now and how it's a bad idea and then usual arguments going back and forth. For this thread, I just want to know your experience with lowering springs based on the duration you've had them on your car on stock shocks/springs and no aftermarket. Please state the following: - Type of lowering springs - How long have you had it on the car (kms, time, anything) - Clicks on stock shocks when you put the springs on - Is your setup still good - Would you still recommend lowering springs on stock shocks/struts? Thanks! |

I'm doing this tomorrow. Will be installing H&R sports on stock ZSP stocks/struts. But I'm also curious to hear from those who had them on for awhile.

H&R Spring
Stock Non-Sport Struts 2 Months 2500 miles The car handles different for the better. The ride is stiffer, you feel the bumps more. But the reduced body roll in turns makes up for that. I personally think the drop on the front is perfect with a one finger gap. But the rear is personally not perfect I wish it was a little lower. For the money you spend on the springs ~240 and another ~150 for install I would say save up for a coilover system and Have the perfect drop for you.

Had H&R sports on stock shocks and it was a terrible ride, drop was to low in front, not enough in the back....get coilovers and forget the springs. After 3,000 miles my shocks where complete junk, could have been on there way or though.

The bottom of one of the H&R shocks from my coilover kit actually sheared off, so I put the stock rear shocks back in, pulled the height adjusters out and slammed the shit out of the back of my car, haha. Before anyone calls me an idiot, I had to put my stock 16" wheels back on because the tires on my CSL's need to be replaced, so I decided why not, it'll make me appreciate my car more when it's back together. It bounces like it's trying to leave orbit, hahaha I swear, if I didn't already know where all the big bumps were around me I sure do now! I don't think the ride is particularly harsh but my tolerance is pretty high.
^pretty much sums up the current state of my car
