So who has removed their intake silencer?
I know there is a thread on it here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37835
But, I still haven't read much about how this affects the overall intake sound, throttle response, or performance. I've read that removing these silencers can improve throttle response, but cause "flat spots" at low rpm (something about the resonance or frequencies made by the engine's valves opening and closing). Can anyone actually give a review of how their car felt after removal? Thanks in advance.

I did it. didnt notice a huge difference. its a bit louder, but nothing much different. if i feel motivated, ill probably just buy a new one for $15 i think to replace the one i cut up. Honestly, the engineers at BMW are intelligent people, but idk if its purpose it to resonate with valve movements or damp intake noise.

I really wanted a bit more intake growl but I guess I'll have to get it another way.

The dealer looked over my car and today and read my fobb key and listed that I need the annual maintenance which is oil change and a look over. They listed intake silencer replace. Does the 335i n55 have one?

Sure I might lose a couple HP, but love the sound. Other intakes may provide some sound with less/no power loss. Worth looking into.
