Dean - send the 002 logs and I'll send you something back that will require the camera to be on his car so you stay in the frame Also shift at 6300ish rpms and shift fast. If you want to meet up tomorrow night we can just belt it out and re-run him.
well i guess that solves the mystery! The cobb car wasnt even fully tuned yet! Im always down for a re-run once you guys get things sorted out. Whether I win or lose, doesn't matter, this is all for fun with friends. I've even told dean many times that I've considered switching to cobb. I am not a fanboy, whatever makes my car the fastest is what has my attention!

I wasn't talking about you. I just updated his map so he can run again. The way tuning works is you start with a somewhat conservative map. Observe the car and make it more aggressive. Observe how it responds and make it more aggressive. You can't just throw an aggressive tune at it and see whats going on. He was running probably half the timing your car was and I hadn't updated his e85 fuel scaling. His new map sent tonight should help a bit. I think I still have significant room to increase it beyond where i just put it but i won't until i see logs from him.

When you see shiv or terry put out a map its after they sat on a dyno or behind the wheel on the street and did an hour (often much more) of tuning. Dean has the equivelant of 3 minutes and 1 revision. Now he has an update that is possibly worthy of a video (and then we'll push the tune further )

Even if both cars had the same exact tune/mods, the outcome would have been close to the same because of the reasons stated before with AT vs MT.

You don't need to mark the e-mail as urgent, you'll get a response in 15 minutes tops as long as he's not sleeping.

Gotcha. Yeah I was there when you did the little 3 minute thing lol. Like I said, it's all gravy. Now that his car is actually on a decent path to having the best protune, future runs should be more accurate of the cars true performance!

Sorry for the misunderstanding everyone. What I meant to say is that the car is not running an OTS map, but rather a custom base map put together by FlyLow335i. Therefore, I just used the term Protune. The car is still going through revisions.

You mean the 003 logs? The one you sent me today is the v3.00. I'll try to get logs within the next day or so.

This is what happens when you eTune folks. You get a really conservative base map, ramp things up until the car tells you to stop, back it down a hair and there's your map. It doesn't happen overnight... unless you live in Mexico.

If only I felt like dropping a 1500+ in my car for an lsd I would throw the AT final drive in. I hate the MT stock gearing. I was tuning a mazdaspeed with a friend today and the 3.92 gears just make a slow car feel so much faster lol.

Check out the map I just sent you 15 minutes ago I skipped a few revisions to get you to the end result a bit quicker

But then you're top-end limited, and your car will go a little something like this:

baaaa, shift, baaaaa, shift, baaaaaaaa, shift, oops runs over lol.

I had an 07 6MT and when I bought my 2010, I had to get an auto. The driving experience just isn't the same but it was the easiest way for me to know I could go a little faster without changing the rear end. I was going to buy a new car either way but had to make a tough decision to get an auto this time.

with logs of both cars, before and after, I guess.

Next race he needs to run this base map and do a pull, then load up the new map and do a pull, then we have something to talk about.

Basically, the term I used was incorrect. When I stated "Protune" I wanted to imply that I was not on a OTS map. The base map in itself is more aggressive than the OTS Stage2+ Agressive map. I should have made this more clear in my original post.

Gee, you make one little mistake and the sharks bite your head off! lol. Fellas, cut the OP a break. Now that we all know the tune wasn't much more aggressive than an off the shelf map, nobody can get butthurt over this. more runs are in order sometime in the future, and i'll prob lose with my stupid slow car. Now cut it out and continue the relatively civil discussion we were having.
