What is that pipe coming out of the X5's hood? Exhaust so it can go into deeper water, or what? Whatever it is, it's badass.

Yeah its a snorkel. A lot of off-road rigs have it. Its for the intake so it doesn't flood the engine in deep water.

originally used in the ausie outback for keeping the snorkle above the dust so the intakes wouldn't fill with sand and dust. Now mostly used as Trijicon says, to keep water out by lots of offroad enthusiasts, and people who want their trucks to look tuff.
